Window Upgrade Day July 10th

Ken,

Many thanks for donating your garage, tools, and mostly for your time in hosting this event. Sorry I couldn't join you all for dinner afterwards.

Ken,
My driver side is moving up faster now compare to yesterday, about the same as the passenger side, maybe the components just need exercising.

Josh,
Great videos.

Tariq,
Thanks for giving me a hand yesterday. Mine don't have the roller noise, or they're not noticeable since I clamped down the rollers a little tighter and reduced that travel gap. Great find on the metal rollers.
And again big thanks to Hugo for the creation effort.

Re: Prime Line metal roller D-1502

I am working with a slightly smaller pulley, 1 1/8" in diameter, as the ones you listed above are too large for the cable guides that Hugo has machined. Hugo also mentioned to me that the length of the pulley axle may be a little long in some cases as they were all hand cut (a testament to personal effort that went into each kit). He also mentioned to me that there should tilt a few degrees to account for the variances in the regulator lever position.

Well it was nice to finally meet Ken, and it was really nice of him to host the window regulator fix it day

The window was much faster, but the bearings and shaft on the plastic roller that came with the kit had a lot of play in it and was getting bound up a bit when it was turning. That being the case, it was not a smooth rotation and it was noisy! (similar to the popping noises most of us hear with the factory setup that has degraded)

Anyway, I replaced the cheapo plastic roller that came with the kit with a metal roller with a sealed type bearing, and now it's working perfectly! Fast and noise free (that was to goal, as my windows were slow and getting more noisy).

Smooth,

I bought a pair of the rollers you pictured above, but I found the diameter to be too big for Hugo's cable guides and it binds on the edges. The part number that I found more suitable was the 1 1/8" set #D-1501, not the D-1502 that you show above.

In the interest of science I replaced my driver's door again but used the brass wheel and I have experienced good results. It works smoothly and quietly, but it is slightly too small for Hugo's guides and may let the cable slip, but knowing the cable tension necessary for the reassembly, I don't think it will ever slip.

Just wanted give Ken my highest recommendation, if your windows are acting up, you won't find a better guy to help you out, a true asset to the NSX community. Thanks again Ken!
