Window problem

I just had my window go down on its own. It dropped so fast the last six inches I thought it had blown out on the expressway! My car is a '91 and I remember there was an issue with something like a window regulator on the early cars. Does anyone know what I'm dealing with and whether it needs an Acura mechanic versus a regular shop?

Thanks!

I have a 91 and have been into the door panels for the required clean and grease maintenance. My suggestion is that you remove the interior door panel and eye-ball what is going on. That will help you describe the conditions and get a recommendation on DIY, regular mechanic, or NSX specialist.
PS. I have no clue what happened to cause your issue.

most likely it's the window regulator plastic tab thingy.. SOS sells one aluminum one for 20 bucks. You may need to get a new window regulator. I got a used one for $200

It sounds like it is definitely the regulator thingy. Dali racing sells the fix and grease for $26. Says no need to replace regulator even if the early unboxed type. Thanks to those who helped.

It does sound like the plastic "thingy" on your window regulator failed resulting in the collapse of the window into your door. If the regulator isn't gooned, you maybe able to fix it with an aluminum "thingy". I bought mine from Science of Speed. There is a wiki describing how to replace the part. If you need to have your regulator rebuilt, use the search function for some folks have used some rebuild services that are not only inexpensive but have quick turn around times.

It's been a long time since I read the old threads on this subject, but one important thing I took away at the time is: Once the window has fallen, don't touch that up/down button. It is salvageable provided you haven't run the motor and bound all that loose cord up in there.

I had this recently happen to me and it was the broken plastic clip. But in the process, my regulator also broke due to the slack from the loose lines. So don't keep trying to roll up and down your window.

While you're in there, grease the tracks with the Honda Urea grease (or any grease i guess) to make the window move up and down with ease and quicker. You can tell by how hard it is to move the window up and down by hand (with the cables disconnected). If it's hard, then its hard for your regulator motor and you need to grease it.
