One of the differences between an OE two part NA1 rear caliper and an OE two part NA2 rear caliper assembly is the longer bracket. It allows for spacing over the larger diameter NA2 rotors. After speaking with Sherwin at the time he mentioned to me that apparently when designing the rear re-locate kit for the NSX application he 'halved the average distance' as he only had an NA1 caliper to do R&D with. Umm, this is a bad start.
In Adam's instance (pictured above) which I mediated at the time (I might add likely about the worst BBK customer relations situation in all of modern motorsports retail history I've ever heard of) the product defects from BrakeZone's kit were compounded exponentially by bad sales and an Acura dealer install gone very, very, wrong (see attached pictures courtesy of Acura for just how wrong).
There are two main problems here.
First- the obvious is one is the bracket spacing- as can be seen from the photo's this just isn't going to work with the NA2 caliper bracket as there is no clearance no matter how you try to solve this puzzle for proper safe assembly. Can it be made to work? Well, I'll just say that anything can be done with a little determination and after a very long afternoon at Tacoma Screw and a little custom shop work. For the average customer rightfully expecting a clean out of box install with his NA2 rear re-lo kit no this isn't going to work at all.
Second- However, EVEN IF you get it attached the clearances are all wrong anyway to allow for ideal positioning of the caliper over the rotor again because of this design. This just isn't really ideal. Brackets, hats, and lines need to fit perfect in a BBK that's like 90% of the point. In general, I am very confident I could put together a better BBK in about a week if needed.
I suppose my suggestion is that if your content on using his rotors and doing a rear re-loc kit... I would reccomend either using the Bracket he provided as nothing more than a reference template- and having a new bracket custom machined to correctly position the NA2 caliper over his provided rotors- OR to pickup a set of OE NA1 rear caliper brackets as I recall (keyword: recall) I was told their were 'successful' (e.g. they at least got it on the car) installations using that bracket.
All I can say is that this was one of those many things that he was supposed to eventually fix, but never did. Unfortunately it was not long after I brought the NSX rear re-locate kit issues to his attention that
his health had really started to turn to the worse and it all obviously quickly became irrelevant to him.
