I ordered a personalized plate way back in January, the plate = "NVER/LTE" (NVER -half space- LTE); delivery window on CA plates is 8-10 weeks, so today in the mail I get a notice telling me I can pick up my new plate at the DMV, where I encounter:

-The b*tch handing out numbered tickets is on a power trip, and rather than give me a number, allow me to pick up my registration from my car's glovebox while waiting, and return with my number she instead insisted I get the registration first, and wait in the get a number to wait in line-line again (approx 30 minutes)

-The plate, NVER LTE, was printed by some smart-thinking prisoner as NVERL TE - that's right, the half-space was put in the WRONG place.

-Idiot behind the counter spends 5 minutes trying to convince me I ordered the plate wrong, despite the fact that I was showing her 2 pieces of paper with the correct spelling (the pickup notice and my original order); Finally she relents, and I speak to her 'supervisor'

-I discuss the situation with the supervisor, and suggest assigning me these plates (as a half space is technically not a character), then requesting replacement plates (as the plate is correct in the system) ; replacement plates take about 1/3rd the time as a new personalized plate, so this would be the fastest option. While I was talking with the supervisor the idiot at the terminal was busy typing away, unfortunatly I ignored this, assuming she could not possibly be accomplishing anything. Supervisor leaves after we reach an agreement on this being the easiest way to get my plate ASAP.

-Just as the supervisor leaves I turn to the lady at the terminal to put my plan into action - she informs me she has just CANCELLED the plate order, and they cannot assign them to my car - she takes the plates and puts them in a special trash can for recycling, I ask her to bring the supervisor back.

-Terminal idiot arrives after approx 3 minutes in the back, the supervisor has gone home for the day (10 minutes early), she suggests I simply re-order the plates, as they have been cancelled and it is currently available - I relent, and reorder the plate - new window is another 8-10 weeks.

Total time getting a personalized plate = 20 weeks, assuming they can correctly print out 7 letters and a half space this time around.

I would like to see a "to the death" cage match between the Prisoners and the DMV employees!!...I would "pay per view" that in a heartbeat!
