Hi Everyone,

Now that we are a rapidly approaching NSXPO in October I wanted to see who is still wanting to go. I have a couple of ideas in mind and of course your input and ideas are needed...

1. Form a concrete group of who would like to go to EXPO.

2. We could do a group transport and fly to AZ ( I read on another forum someone had found a deal on covered transport it was for 8 cars and about $500.00 a piece to and from AZ)

2a. If we did the transport we could find a travel agent that could get a group price on airfare and hotel.

or

3. Do a group caravan from the Bay to AZ.

3a. If we caravan narrow down a route, time, and lodging.

Of course if we have a group and plan ahead we can save more money on trip expenses.

Just some brainstorming. I hope alot of you are planning on going. I know I am looking forward to this journey...

I am going. My plan is to start driving around 5pm the night before to LA area and I will stay at a fellow NSXer's place overnight. On the day of NSXPO, I will join the So. Cal caravan to drive to Phoenix. It will be so much fun!!

FYI,

It's possible to do the trip from the SF Bay Area to Phoenix AZ in a day, as long as you plan ahead and avoid any delays in the obvious places like Pacheco Pass and getting through the mess of trafic in the vicinity of LA. Just a reminder, in some areas CHP is not turning on the radar all the time, either they are going for instant on, or are just pacing people, so your radar detector might be rendered useless :(

If you plan to fly to Phoenix, it's very hard to beat the rates that Southwest has, used to do that almost every weekend for a while.

Just my 2 cents.

That would be cool to see 50+ NSX heading from Southern CA to Phoenix. I hope someone is video taping that!!! PLEASE.

I drove from Bay Area to San Diego in 6.5 hours....stayed the night...and then head out to Phoenix from SD to Phoenix in about 5.5 hours. I got one of those $50 speeding ticket. The speed limit was 75 and then turned to 65 and then 55 within 1/2 mile. There were 3 CHP out there giving out tickets left and right...and I was one of them. I was trying to pass a truck since I didn't want to drive behind it for a couple of miles. They didn't use their radar gun at all...they were timing me with their stop watches. It was all a setup by CHP just to meet their quotas for the month. OH well...50 dollars isn't too bad and no recond on DMV.

Have fun!

hi everyone, this is my first time going. what's the exact date? its in phoenix, AZ right? and what exactly goes on at the event? sorry for the ignorance, but again it is my first time. thanks

BTW: Going in one large goup has a lot of drawbacks, partitioning the large group to smaller groups would be better, otherwise the logistics can become a nightmare really fast, even with club radios and such. Trying to keep track of everyone would be a hard thing to do, and travelling in a large group *might* atract the attention from the LE folks if the group is travelling at faster speeds than the rest of the traffic.

Some of the folks who attended/organized the NSXPO03 activities might have some good comments/ideas as well as those who caravaned down to CA Speedway last December to attend the JGTC Live event, so hopefully they will chime in.

NSXPO info can usually be found at the following site, but it does not seem to be working right now:

OK, just for those considering driving, from the East Bay Area, (my home) it is an 11 hour roll to the hotel, Embassy Suites, 4415 E. Paradise Valley Parkway South, Phoenix, AZ 85072, and 743 miles.

My person preferance would be to break that in half and spend the night at the half-way point. (The older you get the less you look forward to 11 hours behind the wheel in one shot...oh my aching back.)

I have not decided if I can do this, a lot depends upon my calendar at the time. I think it might be a fun trip and am going to check it out.

Re: Who wants to go to NSXPO 2005 from the Bay area?

I plan on going, I think I will be leaving the north bay on Wednesday morning, stopping midway to rest overnight, I have to plan out where, and then head to the hotel for registration on Thursday. I want to keep it fun and relaxed.
There were a bunch of us that went to NSXPO 2003 and we caravaned from Comptech to the Napa valley grill with the help of the CHP. I can't remember who had arranged that but it was so cool.I think I remember there was about 100 to 120 cars. I was in a group of about 7 or 8 cars that was cut off from the rest by commute traffic thru Sacramento and the CHP turned there lights on and started clearing the lane for us.Then they had us driving about 100 mph to catch up with the main group. I never had a CHP want me to drive faster before. I heard that it was on the local news station, the traffic copter was following our very long caravan. It was so cool I still get a smile thinking about it.

I'm hoping to go, and I'm hoping to drive, and I'd like to be in a caravan. Lotta maybes still to be hammered out...

I will be in Oregon driving my car down from there to AZ, then shipping it back after NSXPO...I was going to ship it both ways...but soemthing tells me the caravan will be awesome, especially if we pick up the estimated about 75-100 cars in SoCal to cruise with on into AZ..If any other NW NSXers would like to meet up in Oregon I will be all in for it, and I would love to meet up with all the NorCall/Bay Area NSXers along the way!!! I will try and stay in the loop with all the caravan details..

If anyone is interested in transport, I will be using Concours Transport for shipping my car back to Oregon from AZ..Their website is www.concourstransport.com

Take care everyone!

Hi Everyone,

Well we are getting a lot of responses for Expo!

Lets take a roll call and vote for caravaning or trucking!

It also sounds like most people would like to stop in LA for one night then on to Az?

NSX88/ VOTE FOR DRIVING IN A CARAVAN/ DRIVE FROM THE BAY TO LA THEN TO AZ

NSX88/ VOTE FOR DRIVING IN A CARAVAN/ DRIVE FROM THE BAY TO LA THEN TO AZ
WhiteNSXs/ VOTE FOR DRIVING IN A CARAVAN/ DRIVE FROM THE BAY TO LA THEN TO AZ

Well if I can go....big if at this point, I vote we caravan, stop the night in LA, then on to AZ. Evening at Disneyland?

Hi Seth,

I was trying to figure out why you would be shipping your car back to OR  after seeing Chris's post I understand. Good luck with your ventures up in Bend , I hear that there are lot's of things to do up there year round.

Not sure if I'll be making the trip down to AZ, but might meet up with some of the OR/WA crew if you guys end up driving down I-5 at a reasonable time of the day :D.

Racerex -that is cool, and if I were 20 years younger I would drive straight through.

Nowadays, I prefer to take it easy and relax and have a good time. Lunch, dinner, BS, go to the bathroom if needed.......

As long as we all get there, that is what counts. I seem to recall someone circumnavigating the globe in 80 days or something too......ya know?

Crap! I think I messed up. I was under impression that the NSXPO2005 starts on 10/7/05 Friday and ends on Tuesday 10/11/05. So I was planning to start my drive from SF on Thursday 10/6/05 evening to LA then stay overnight and join the caravan the next day. Now I looked at the schedule, it actually starts on 10/6/05 evening with registration and cocktail reception. On 10/7/05, it is actually a full day.
Now, I have to redo my schedule.
