who should win the Heisman??

You're a Sooner fan?! I'm from Oklahoma and have Sooner blood! haha I think Peterson should and will get it.

i agree AD should win it..white and leinharts numbers are too close..AD was the difference..i lived in oklahoma during my grade school and junior high years..i miss the place...GO SOONERS!!

hehe..its hard being a sooner fan in nor cal..esp cause the bears didnt get a bcs bowl

We've flipped states. Grew up in Cali and am now a Tulsan. Tulsa: Terrible Place to Visit But Great Place to Live. Also to be known as: Motorsports Capital of the World.

Gotta with Peterson though White has the better numbers out of all of them.

UCLA Bruin fan but Reggie Bush is the best player in the country!

I think that might be true. When I'd go to Tulsa I think the only thing to do there was go to a football game or go ice skating at the mall. Is that even open anymore? I don't know about motorsports capital of the world though. haha Is there a track there? I thought the only track in OK was the dragstrip, Thunder Valley. I wish they had a road track there.

your just saying that because he ran all over you guys...he did fumble twice!!
cant believe they didnt give you guys the ball on that fumble!!

since youre a UCLA fan you should be thinking Antonio Perkins is the best player..he ran 3 punt returns back for TDs last year..remember??

jus messing..Reggie Bush just doesnt get enough touches..

Hahaha...I think the skating rink was consumed by the Williams Energy Trading floor which in turn is a very bad word in the community. Tulsa has Hallett! And soon we'll have Tulsa Raceway Park; dragstrip, road course, and AX course.

an interesting (and refreshing) sidenote.... utah's heisman contender alex smith is actually a masters student. he finished his undergraduate studies in 2 years.

Who is this UCLA you speak of? And who is Reggie Bush? I thought Jason White and Adrian Peterson where the only candidates this year?

What is Hallett? And I wish they had that roadcourse when I was there! We may be getting one here though in the not too distant future. Larry H Miller, owner of the Utah Jazz, multiple dealerships and car buff has been trying to get one built for years now and just got the site approved! WooHoo!

Alex Smith is a very smart guy. He did indeed graduate awhile ago. Not just in Psychology or something either. I'm not sure what it was, but he's a genious! His dad is a prinicple or something like that.

http://www.hallettracing.com/ Man, did you ever miss out. It's one of the most technically difficult tracks in the country.

I think if the Heisman were a more "well rounded college athlete" award then the guy from Utah would win - and deservedly so. Didn't I just hear that on Sportscenter the other night?

Erick, not a heisman candidate. But, what are Oklahomans thinking about Mo Dampeer? Is he working harder now?

This type of stuff happens regularily at the UCLA/USC game. And with the deep pockets of the Trojan alumni, you can guess who always gets the calls!

Jason Campbell. Oh that's right, he got screwed out of that too.

i knew i saw an auburn avitar somewhere..i was thinking it was niketalk.com but here you are..

jason campbell is dope but he doesnt have better numbers. what, he led his team to an undefeated season? so did leinhart, smith and white with better numbers. campbell had 2 nfl running backs in the backfield swapping in just like all the other undefeated teams..

i wish there was a playoff but theres still no way auburn jumps oklahoma to play in the orange bowl..

i do think that auburn shoulda jumped usc and played OU in the orange bowl..hehe..pac 10 this year was wackS with a capital S!!!

I know J.C. doesn't really deserve the Heisman, I just like saying it.
I did lead his team to an undefeated season the in toughest conference there is in college football. Beat 3 teams ranked in the top 10 when they played. Not like it was a cake walk for them.
And one more thing, they had the 2nd best scoring defense in the country during the season allowing only 9.6 points per game.
Strength of schedule. USC-31st UO-24th AU-9th.
I think for sure AU and OU should be playing for title so we could see just how good your high powered offense would do against our stingy defense.
But we can only speculate now. :frown:

true that there!!

not only did auburn have a tougher schedule, although you guys did play a couple of chumps, but you guys played the rivalry games? alabama's not ranked but year in year out they play yall tough..dont matter whose ranked!

same with ou..ou played kansas st this year playing conservative cause kst whupped os last year..ou vs ok st is the oklahoma rival game..ou vs texas a&m was tough cause we dropped 77 on them last year and this year they werent having it..

usc beats cal and if cal doesnt have a special teams blunder, they win..they barely beat stanford..everyone else in the pac 10 is garbage.

past trends & personal insights...

hmmm... I personally want Matt Leinart to win the Heisman. I believe the votes were to be in prior to last weekends games, or most had been cast already. Playing for the concensus #1 team from DAY ONE, defending national champions... you have a bullseye on you each and very week. His overall performances were generally great to excellent, and not one below avg. or poor outing throughout the season. To anolgize, had UTAH been #1 in the preseason and still managed to finish undefeated, they would be in the Orange Bowl. It's all about what level you begin at, and do what it takes to stay there. All he had to do was have a letdown game or trip somewhere along- but he didn't. Case-closed.

Adrian Peterson is a superstar in the making, period. If you take away the 'frosh' from the media guide, he'd be my pick... absolutely dominating performances against UT & OSU. And get this, he still isn't well versed in the intrinsities of the offense, hah!

Reggie Bush is a phenom w/o a doubt. However having L.White getting some thunder (in terms of offensive numbers) and Leinart's notoreity (King of Tinseltown, boy nextdoor, ClarkKent/Superman persona, famous model gf, general SoCal glitz & so forth), Bush isn't yet the main man in his own towne- let alone America. However, he does have the 'Charles Woodson' factor going for him... multi-functional, out of this world talent, and a cut above the rest on the field.

Jason White has a big heart, great leadership, poise, consistency, and the tools to make his team amongst the best (year in, year out). But I think the college football purists/gods want to keep Archie Griffen as the sole two-time winner of the Heisman.

Alex Smith, sorry chap... ever hear of Ben Roethlisburger or or Byron Leftwich or Chad Pennington or Steve McNair? Star players, endless talent, winning persona, yet lower-tier schools in the pecking order. Someday, it'll change... but this isn't the year.

Having teamates up for the Heisman is something I'm not big one. I am really surprised there isn't some stipulation to have only one finalist from a team. If that was such the case, Cedric Benson of UT and David Greene of Georgia would be excellent Heisman finalists IMHO (they'd add some great geographical/national interest to the Heisman buildup... as well as being worthy of the award in itself).

Go Trojans!!! ::salute to TommyTrojan::

Go PiTT!!! Hail to PiTT! A return to glory- been a long 20yrs!

Go Hurricaines!!! The battle for FL', no doubt!

Go Longhorns!!! What irony, the least dominant team Austin has fielded in the BCS era to actually get to the BCS!?! This one is for you Mack, a reparation of the past 'disses- make the most of it!

Didn't mean anything specific. Just remembered the coach fired off on him in a interview. Just wondering if the people in Oklahoma were now pleased with his performance.
I see that you weren't in Oklahoma, I thought that you may have memberships to some of the OU fansites....

I know his mom and dad very well. Was at the hospital the night he was born. He has always been a good kid. He has a lot of talent. I have not watched much sports this Fall, so I have been pretty much out of the loop.

I just can't believe those RBs are considered over Cedric Benson. I mean Benson's stats are better than any of the finalist that are RBs. I think Benson have 160+ yards per game vs those two RBs' sub 160 yards per game. Benson also have close to 6000 total yards with consistent increase in yards each year he plays. And over 50% of the yards for Benson are after initial contact. I guess consistency isn't enough if one doesn't have the break away speed for those flashy media highlights. What a joke. But then again, I bleed burnt orange.

Did you seriously just post the word "y'all" on here? LOL I haven't even heard someone say that for years! You're making me homesick! haha

I'm pushing for Leinart all the way. I thought he had a great chance last year, but IMHO is a no-brainer this year. Yes, I'm a bit troubled by the fact a) Bush being a finalist may split votes and b) Leinart didn't dominate the Bruins (no TD passes after having at least one in his first 24 starts? Ouch). Bush definitely has more flash, but Leinart has been extremely consistent from the very moment he took over from previous 'SC Heisman winner Carson Palmer (in fact, he's been MORE consistent than Palmer)...and he has remained poised under pressure while leading the number one team in the nation for an entire season.

I'm hoping that Oklahoma's two finalists will also split votes...and the fact that White won last year.

Of course, I'm a Trojan fan and an alum...so I'm a bit biased. But, regardless of who wins on Saturday, I'm sure we'll see who really deserved it on January 4th!
