Which muffler?!? I want Ferrari sound

Which muffler to buy? I drove a F360 Spyder yesterday and want my car to sound like that with one exception. The Ferrari was loud as h3ll even at slow speeds. 20MPH sounded like the car was screaming! I want my car to be somewhat civil sounding when just driving around in traffic, but I want that loud shreiking F1 racecar sound when in the throttle.

And I don't want to break the bank. So I'm looking for a nice sounding exhaust that's affordable. Or at least one that's a good value for the money.

I've searched some posts here and still don't know what would fit my wants.

Check with Chris at SOS. The exhaust page is here. I would suggest the ANYTIME exhaust, but I may be biased.
Take care,
John

BTW, If you would like to hear my car with the ANYTIME exhaust, PM me and I can call you and start/drive my car for you.

CLosest thing is a Tubi, it's manufactured a few hundred yards up the street Ferrari's front gates. ANYThing else is like a Casio or a Timex. There is only ONE NSX Tubi left in the country and I'm trying to find a nice pedestal to mount it on. The next production run is in the future, we're not sure when.

He said he didn't want to break the bank. As far as I know, only 2 exhausts fall under that category:

1. Magna Flow
2. Flow Master

estimated $400 installed for either one.

Those do not produce a Ferrari-like sound... more like musclecars.. deeper.. throaty... Still nice at high rpms.

I would say the Anytime sounds DAMN good.

I don't think any NSX can match the Ferrari sound. There are alot of Ferrari's that don't have the Ferrari sound. Each model has it's own sound. There are many after market exhausts for both the Ferrari and the NSX. Each one has it's own sound too.

If you can go to NSXPO, you can hear them all there. There are some many choices it can make your head spin.

I disagree with NetViper. I have a Flowmaster, and I think it sounds great, and you can't beat the price.

i think $400 is if someone hoses you down.. for JUST the muffler, it's about $70, and any schmo with a welder can pop it on for you for $30-50.. exhaust tips extra of course.. when i did my landcruiser i was out $50 for the muffler and $20 for the install...

It's not hosing if they are doing all of the piping as well to the cats with mandrel bent tubes.

I don't think Flowmaster or Magnaflow units are $70. Mentioning the fact that you paid $50 for your Landcruiser muffler doesn't really help anyone here unless what you're talking about is a Magaflow or Flowmaster unit.

True, but the key is the "mandrel" bent tubes. They cost more and anyway i wouldnt take my NSX to just any schmo welder, just my O.

OK, to specify: i put a FLowmaster on my landcruiser. $50. I had a Magnaflow put on my accord $50. and by "any schmo" i mean a muffler shop. it doesn't take a genius to weld on a muffler. this isn't quite in the same league as tuning a turbo... not knocking guys who weld for a living, since i know it takes skill to do a decent job. but again we aren't talking about the space shuttle welds or anything..
but yeah, having all the pipes done at the same time would run about $3-400..

He said 360 spider so a gruppeM version 3 is the closest sound to 360 as I said it on the link bellow. Those who've heard real life GruppeM exhaust sound at full throttle & speed know what I'm talking about :)

I have a movie & sound clip from a standing start & slow speed moving but I need to find someone to host it for me because it's a 280 MB file. It's my car's exhaust sound.

:)

I have the GruppeM (v2) on my X and to my ears it sounds very close to the F360. (Though it does not sound as good as the F355.) At low accelleration (just putting-around town) it is not very loud outside, though there is a fair amount of resonance in the cabin. However, when you accellerate hard it sounds very close to the 360, especially between 3500 and 5000 rpm.

I have to agree with the above two gentleman, nothing beats the sound of the GM exhaust, especially at the top end. The high pitched shriek is like no other exhaust. Only thing is the GM needs to have the Cats removed when installed.

GruppeM sound

SantaBorg-

There is a GruppeM sound clip here Refresh when you click the link b/c for some reason, it just comes up as a picture. There are some Tubi and Anytime videos on there as well as the Flowmaster setup. Hope that helps some. Take care.

In my opinion, these exhausts sound most similar to the elusive Ferrari-esque sound track:

1. GruppeM V3
2. Tubi Style
3. Anytime Racing
4. TAITEC GT Lightweight

Let us know if you have any questions!

best regards,

I have flowmaster on mine, so I'm definetly biased, but I get compliments EVERYWHERE I go on how my car sounds...

I've heard my car rev next to a 360 and it sounds similar...not nearly as good, but similar.

Alot of people tell me my flowmaster exhaust sounds like a street bike...i flat out love the sound and for under $300 and a weight savings of like 25lbs or something sick like that.

You may want to try just running pipes straight back from the cat and then using only a resonator as your "muffler." It'll be loud, and I am not too sure if it'll sound like a Ferrari, but it'll definitely sound more like a big block V8.

i am biased myself as i also have a TUBI exhaust....i love the quad tips and the fact that Many F cars use this same brand should tell you something.
