Hi there nsxgrrl,

hey boys.....

We have some women owners, too. Not on these forums, I don't think. But there were half a dozen female owners at NSXPO 2000 in Atlanta, and in fact, they had their own mini get-together during the event. One of them is in the Chicago area; let me know if you'd like me to put you in touch with her.

i was wondering where the best place would be to locate one here in the chicago area

You might or might not want to limit yourself to those here in the Chicago area. While there are some around here, and some occasionally go up for sale (either at one of the nine Acura dealers in town or elsewhere), there aren't a lot. That means that if you don't care all that much about a particular color and/or year etc, and if you don't care all that much if you pay maybe a little bit more than you would by shopping around, you can certainly find an NSX. But if your requirements are more specific, you either (a) have to get lucky or (b) may be better off looking at nationwide sources, so that you have a bigger market to work in. If you find one in another city, you can save yourself a plane ride (or worse) by having a knowledgeable local NSX owner check the car out for you, to see if it's being properly represented.

also what year would be the best for a first time nsx owner..??

It's one of those "you get what you pay for" things. Improvements were made year by year, as you can see in the "Changes by Year" section of the FAQ. And, of course, a newer car, just like a lower mileage car, will have had less use, less exposure to the elements, and will cost you more.

There are lots of Internet sources for cars, including the ones Akio mentions as well as others that can be found in the "Resources" section of the FAQ (under the "Buy/Sell/Ship/Store" heading). A few other websites to check that specialize in NSX's are:
http://www.nsxprime.com/market/nsxfs.htm http://www.performancecarnetwork.com/scripts/nsx/classified-active.cfm http://www.nsxclassifieds.com/ http://members.boardhost.com/nsx2/

Make sure you get one in time to bring it to NSXPO 2001, since it will be so close to home this year! 100 or more NSX's together, October 17-21 in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. More information at http://www.nsxpo.com/nsxpo/

I noticed a few cars priced decently from that downers grove dealer. What was so bad about your experience with them?

I've dealt with Luxury Motors also and though they were nice on the surface, it turned out ugly. I checked out a '94 with 30k miles priced at 38.5k...It started at 48k or something like that and consistently dropped. Anyway, I went to look at it and basically it turned out to be trash. Clutch was blown, possilbe mileage fraud etc. Anyway, I think they ended up selling the car to another local luxury car dealer.
