Wheel spacers: I know this is a repeat but...

Can I ask a sort of related question? What coilover set are you running? I was *this* close to buying KW V3s when I realized how heavy they were with the steel shock body and all. I mean, i'm not BJ on the track but I was really looking forward to shedding more weight with a new set of coilovers. So now i'm back to square one with trying to research coilovers all over again.

I think the V3 is the best there is in it's price range, like Billy said I would not worry about a couple of pounds. I almost bought those then I found a used set of KW Competitions that I bought. I haven't installed these yet as I am having Ravi build a VRH lift system for the car first. I don't want to install these twice.

Honestly these, the BBK, the CTSC, it's all stuff beyond my current driving ability.

IMO the weight difference between the steel KW V3 and an aluminum coilover is insignificant in terms of performance loss for pretty much everyone. If the weight difference is the main reason for not buying them, your car better not have AC, a stereo, stock seats, or the stock wing and side inlet scoops. Half of the weight of the coilover is unsprung. So if the V3 is 6lbs heavier, only 3lbs is unsprung.

I agree with you guys. They may still be the best option for a street/track coilover. They're just not the slam dunk decision I once thought they were. I mean, you spend so much time and effort shedding every pound reasonably possible and strive to a goal but...... Dave, I can see you struggle for the same.

My stereo, stock seats, and stock wing will be removed/replaced in a matter of time so it's all incremental. Will never get rid of my AC though!!! lol

You're crazy man. I can't wait for the point by you have to give me after you install all that stuff. It is going to be so freaking sweet.

LOL... maybe.... but I'll be stylin'....

I have a pretty strong suspicion that you're never going to the track in that car again. But at least you'll be stylin at the MassTuning meets, right?

That's what its all about baby.... I had it all wrong. You see the babes all over my hood? Watkins Shmotkins...

I'll always remember the fun times we had at the Watkins Glen Budget Inn, my friend.

NO HOMO.

what other options are you looking into?

If your that weight conscious, replace the side inlets with carbon and the rear bumper with aluminum as well as the heavy stock battery.

Ryu, aren't they still lighter than stock? I just think they will outdo anything else in that price range.

Yes, you've pretty much called out all the 'low hanging fruit' except the stock steering wheel. I spent a weekend on the rear beam alum DIY so I can say i've actually agonized to save every pound I can while not also gutting out the car completely. I think when i'm done I'll have to consider, say, the Type R shift boot, but i'm also trying to lose 10lbs myself!

Currently looking at Aragosta Suspension, KW V3. The Zeal/Endless for sale here are interesting but a bit too stiff and expensive since i'd like to swap out to 8k/8k or 8k/10k Swift Springs. I wouldn't mind trying out the HKS Hipermax II with a similar set of Swift Springs.

Again, i'm no expert. My small brain has just led me this way so far...

Got 25mm and 15mm kics first. 25mm went on fine but with the 15mm the stick studs protruded too far an prevented the wheels from being mounted. So I left the rears alone, returned the 15mm kics and ordered the H&Rs. It's a little labor intensive to install the spacers that swap out the stock studs cause the studs have to be pressed and you need other tools you may not have say in your garage. Then if the studs are too long you need to pick up open ended bolts...etc. If you take the route I took you should be fine.

Did your H&R's come with the correct length studs? does anyone know what that length should be? I want to use the stock lugs. What tool do you need to press the studs in?

Dave if in the end you get spacers and the included lug nuts are longer than stock you may need open ended "tuner" lug nuts.Your stock closed ended nuts may be too short and not hold the wheel on securely.

docjohn he will definitely opt for that only if it means he will have to modify something else on the car. Will he have to get special lugs too? If so, he's REALLY interested!

LOL... true... I like those colored titanium ones.

Isn't anyone with spacers and 02 wheels using factory lugnuts? I'm starting to get a little ricey here now with tuner lugs... I'm certain there is a "correct" stud length.

BTW Liquid, have you checked Z06 market pricing lately? You should be embarrased.

Every on-track kill of a NSX is worth $1k in extra depreciation. $3k if it is some metrosexual driving a supercharged, highly modified, extra fancy NSX. Plus a $5k bounty if it makes him afraid to come to the track altogether.

By my reckoning, I'm way ahead.

Look at how you shit on my wheel spacer thread... shouldn't you be on the chevy forums?

Okay, back on topic. Sorry.

Can anyone recommend studs, lug nuts and spacers for my friend? Preferably something custom machined, expensive, and with a special story behind it would be preferred (maybe all in titanium with a heat treated rainbow fruity finish?)
