Well...what do you think?

What country makes best cars? good cars? economical cars? reliable cars? fast cars? exotic cars? sedans? trucks? sports? wagon? minivan? SUVs? well designed? high-tech?

what is your over all rate?

I don't think this question will lead to anywhere. You could maybe ask for the favourite brand because e.g. BMW is a german company that has plants also in the USA, Porsche has a production in Finland, Volkswagen in Hungary etc. whereas Chrysler is an american brand with car production in Austria and even Germany. Not to speak of the components of a car that are usualy from throughout the world (the dual mass flywheel from the NSX is from a german company some little miles away from me). So countries play little to no role IMO.

Excellent points! One more bit of confusion is that Chrysler is actually German owned (Diamler-Chrysler). The lines are blurred between what is foreign or domestic. One of my neighbors who works for GM was indirectly criticising me for buying Honda, so I asked him what would be better in his view, buying a Honda that was built in America or buying a Chevrolet that was built in Mexico.

He gave me a blank look and said to buy the car that was built in Mexico although he didn't look confident in his answer.

As I wrote in connection to the Tsunami catastrophe: We are one world...
Or to speak more economicaly: It's not the gouvernments of our countries that lead the world but the global operating companies.
