What Vacuum do you use for the interior?

Im still looking for one of those nice soft hoses. Does anybody know where to get one. Vacuums generally have the same suction, but its the hose that takes all the credit:eek:

Silly question, but does anyone know how to get those great stripes on the carpets that you see in cars these days? Looks like an excellent detailing detail. Is that a special vac or just simply pulling the vac in alternating directions to make the stripes. Like cutting grass.

Yep!

Edit: from 6spdonline: To obtain a ‘stripe pattern’ on (freshly cleaned, damp) carpets / mats; alternate the direction of the extractor (pull towards you to make one line, then push away from you on next) .

an interior detailer i know gave me a little hand-held plastic brush with short stiff bristles that he uses for that effect.i think it's a dog brush!
i found it easier to do with the mats out.it does look nice-sometimes the little stuff is just as satisfying as the big stuff.

+1 for Dyson

amazing how 5 of us in this small survey use the same thing...and seem to like it...but 3 others think it is poop.....

The Ridged brand vacuum. They are great, you can buy them at home depot. They have a great variety, and big assortment of attachments. The best part is the lifetime warranty, if it ever brakes or any of the attachments brake, you can bring them to home depot and get it replaced on the spot.

+1 I use my 5.0hp Ridged shop, wet/dry vac.

I can see where something smaller might be nice as opposed to pulling around a large shop vac. But it has lots of suction, which I like. Plus I already have it.

My bride uses a Sanitare Professional 1400w canister type vaccum she loves to use when cleaning her car. It is a nice unit with some great attachments. For the most part she uses it exclusively on her car.

But I tend to grab the shop vac. As Tim Allen would say, "more power, arrr-rrrrr-rrrrr"

I,ve seen the dyson handheld advertised and it looked like a nice unit. I thought about checking into it... it appears that it may be a little like a cat, you either love'm or hate'm. Several here love them, others say it is a pos, watching the poll.

I liked my Dyson when it ran. After a little less than a year it would only run in 5 second bursts. Dyson replaced the charger but it still had the same issue but they did not "think" it was the battery.
