What sets the NSX apart from the rest

my quote says my reason....

if you think about it.. it's rareness alone sets it apart.. you see porsche on the road all the time, and you see bmw...

but the nsx... it sets itself apart..

kinda coo if you ask me..

when i first saw the nsx in 1990 i thought: good but not pectacular. Its design is very user friendly and thus lacks the cutting edge of the pinnacle - european car design. They incorporated a lot of glass area for visibility(which makes it look un exotic) they added a boot for luggage (its a 2 seater sports car - who needs to carry golf bags), it could have been lower. overall its a ferrari wannabe but restrained so that it can be used everyday.

And this is why the nsx is so great - its almost a ferrari that can be used every day without problem. But please do not fool yourselves that it is better than a ferrari, neither in looks, sound, pose value, prestige etc because it is not, and it will never be. How can it ever compete with a 355 or 360 spider?

ufo 1 -

It seems as though you posted your post here because you wanted to express the same kind of statements for which you were flamed in this topic. In that topic, most of us came to the conclusion that you don't even own an NSX. Are you posting here simply to "troll", to annoy NSX owners into responding to your "flame bait"? We disagreed with you in that other thread and saw through your ploy there, and you are likely to get the same reaction from your post here. Perhaps it's time for you to move along rather than play your silly games, no? Because you are

You could refute most of the silly statements that ufo 1 made, if you take his bait. But I would suggest not bothering. He is, quite simply, a troll, and he has been unmasked...

LOL!!

But Ken, you've to admit that ufo 1 is quite a character though. I personally find it very amusing in his point of view towards many things (because they don't make sense) which I don't wanna name or else it'd sound like a flame. ;)

There is no doubt that stock vs stock an Esprit accelerates faster. But I wouldn't say that the Esprit handles better than the NSX. I remember a race car driver (can't quite recall the name of the driver and magazine) commented that NSX is the best handling/most fun outta the bunch (NSX, esprit and some other sports cars...)

Trust me... There IS a difference in handling. I was amazed myself. I have both cars in my garage and have driven both several times this week. I always take the back roads to get into town and do lots of spirited driving while i'm there. There truely IS a difference. The Esprit is more nimble. The steering response is slightly faster and taking a hard turn at the same speed, the Esprit takes it a bit easier. I even compared it with a passenger and they said the same thing. NOW.... The Esprit IS less comfortable of a ride. I CAN NOT go over the railroad tracks in the Esprit the way I do with the NSX. No Way! I FEEL EVERYTHING on the road with the Esprit. I'm guessing.... but maybe the NSX is tuned for a softer ride stock as the Esprit is tuned more for track use stock...(Speculation only). Please don't get me wrong. The NSX handles amazingly, it's just that the Esprit "seems" to have it beat in handling in "my opinion". This does NOT take away from how much I love my NSX.

Well, I have no first hand experince in driving the two cars back to back for comparison. I just simply remeber that little article I read back god knows when. So your opinion vs mine, yours would hold more validity. Yours vs a magazine review, I can't really say who has more credibility... Either way, they're both great cars.

For me it's really simple. The first time I drove an NSX it was like no other experience I had ever had. The car is just a blast to drive, sure there are faster cars out there, some of which I've driven, but there are few which are as much fun to drive.

Then you add the looks, rarity, reliability and affordability of an older one and you can't beat it.
