There are a few people who post kill stories that some of us don't like. For the record it doesn't bother me(with all the other crap going on in the world). People have been "opening it up" for years, but i kinda wanted to see what views were of what a street race really is and considering all the other worldy problems, is this really a MAJOR problem? The options below seem to yield the same results when they go wrong. Which one of the biggest reason to throw your hands in the air?

Street racing is what it is,racing on public roads, not designed for it,with a whole bunch of other drivers who are unaware of (and not prepared for)two or three cars competing for the same stitch of road. quite simply you have two drivers trying to be first to get to some imaginary point:confused:

I agree with Doc John, it's something that we have all done at one point in our lives, and thankfully we have lived to "regret it", it's stupid, and not safe but at times we forget. The choices that you post aren't what most of us refer to. Yes, I love to rip throught the gears, as I'm getting on the highway, rev it up to redline in as many of the gears as I can, and than get down to legal speeds. Am I racing anyone, no, am I putting anyone in danger, well... it depends, certainly anytime you go faster than the legal limit you're breaking the law. Street racing isn't going to win you anything other than "headaches" at minimum. Enough preaching..... go out and drive safely....

This is a thread after my own heart. I think everyone on here, some more than others:smile: know my feelings on this so I won't get into again.
I will sit back and see what others have to say about it though. Should be interesting.

My deffinition is stupids kids in honda civics with type-r badges who think they can beat any car they line up againt on the highway trying to get from one stoplight to the other. Honestly I can't stand drag racing, so thus I hate street racing. Even when I get my own car, I dont plan on racing people on the streets (becuase 1. It's not safe and 2. Have you SEEN the road conditions in NJ??????) I would race them on a track (Soon to be open in raceway park with I think 13 turns).

Someone doing the speed limit in the left hand lane with two hands gripping the wheel at 10 and 2!

Most people in st.louis know of the famous racing spot. I go on the "said" racing weekends and find it quite entertaining. Motorcycles, cars anything can be seen on the said days. The police shut it down and sometimes they don't(turning on fire hydrants etc). Its in an industrial area so the traffic is not real heavy on one end. Unfortunately most of the dragging or racing is done at night so you can't see anything as good as daylight. Have their been accidents, yes. Have their been alcohol and fights and such, sure. My dad and his friends used to race there as kids. I don't have a bad feeling about street racing(probably because nobody i know has gotten hurt)but i think for me rush hour traffic and police chases away more destructive than street racing. JMO. I guess i'd be against it if i saw people really racing on high traffic public roads. Opening up on the highway(something that happens a lot) seems to be very common, but not all that unsafe. Just a note but i ride sportbikes. I currently have an 03 cbr 954rr. I remember when i tried to by a kaw zx11 as my very first bike, 8 years ago a dealer wouldn't sell me one. He said "you'll be dead in 2 hours". If i was 18 and had the money would a dealer refuse me a new z06? Would Mallet or ligenfelter refuse to mod my engine if i had the funds? Racing, be it street or road is about education and most importantly, responsibility. Sorry but if i had some sort of FI on my nsx, i'd be flying past a lot of people on the highway(more often than not). I'd also have to ACCEPT the responsibilty of being stupid, if something goes wrong.

My def: is racing at night when its all open and clear. I hate people who street race going 90+ in the city weaving in an out of traffic. I always open it up on the highway tho. I only plan on racing cars i hate late at night(sounds kinda stupid) I learned my lesson with a supercharged cobalt.

My definition of a moron: Racing on an unfamiliar road against an unfamiliar person at any time of the day or night with a lot or no traffic.

I take advantage of every on and off ramp I can. I never line up at a stop light and race people on the street, what is the point? I can beat a lot of people and a lot more people can beat me. Someone's riding my ass, maybe I'll put it down. I'm not saying I don't ever drive what the law would consider "reckless," but it's not something I make a habit of. It's always harmless until someone gets hurt.
