Most people in st.louis know of the famous racing spot. I go on the "said" racing weekends and find it quite entertaining. Motorcycles, cars anything can be seen on the said days. The police shut it down and sometimes they don't(turning on fire hydrants etc). Its in an industrial area so the traffic is not real heavy on one end. Unfortunately most of the dragging or racing is done at night so you can't see anything as good as daylight. Have their been accidents, yes. Have their been alcohol and fights and such, sure. My dad and his friends used to race there as kids. I don't have a bad feeling about street racing(probably because nobody i know has gotten hurt)but i think for me rush hour traffic and police chases away more destructive than street racing. JMO. I guess i'd be against it if i saw people really racing on high traffic public roads. Opening up on the highway(something that happens a lot) seems to be very common, but not all that unsafe. Just a note but i ride sportbikes. I currently have an 03 cbr 954rr. I remember when i tried to by a kaw zx11 as my very first bike, 8 years ago a dealer wouldn't sell me one. He said "you'll be dead in 2 hours". If i was 18 and had the money would a dealer refuse me a new z06? Would Mallet or ligenfelter refuse to mod my engine if i had the funds? Racing, be it street or road is about education and most importantly, responsibility. Sorry but if i had some sort of FI on my nsx, i'd be flying past a lot of people on the highway(more often than not). I'd also have to ACCEPT the responsibilty of being stupid, if something goes wrong.
