This is the paint on my 97 audi wagon which stays outside. This happned over the last 5 days. It has been raining the last few days. When it was dry today, I noticed that the paint had clouded in patches all over the top surfaces of the car. Nothing on the sides. The car has been fine until now. I put a coat of Zaino on it about 3 weeks ago, and it was perfect then. Acid rain? chemical damage? I've never seen anything like it. Its all over the car from front to back. Has anyone seen anything like this? Will it clear up on its own when the sun dries it? Could it be Zaino related?

The X has been dry in the garage.

Mike I had the same problem with my old vette. The rain water beads up (because of the recent wax) then the sun comes out and actually bleaches the paint, you must use some kind of abrasive cleaner. Good Luck,Mike

Perhaps, but there hasn't been sun in 5 days. I have a feeling that it isn't just going to go away. I'll take it to a body shop tomorrow and see what they say. I'm glad this didn't happen to the nsx.

Mike my car was red also, something with the pigment? It only take 5 minutes in the sun and it happens to older paint. I know I haven't seen the sun in 4 days!

Has it ever been refinished?
No. It is the origonal paint, and it is clearcoated. Car went through rain/sun cycles for years. This is something different. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the recent Zaino (btw, the zaino was 3 years old. Can it go bad?), or the paint had a built-in self-destruct timer, and time recently ran out.

Why? do you think that is what caused this?

My '94 Acura Legend sedan recently began to have these types of paint issues on ONLY the roof section. The discoloration rapidly appeared over the period of 1 week and then began "growing". Within a relatively short period there were three quite large areas with this white discoloration on the roof. Almost seemed like a fungal problem. I tried a variety of mildly abrasive paint cleaners and rubbing compounds without any success. Actually on one section I managed to compound right through the clear coat into the base coat layer (oops!).

Last week, I ended up taking the car to a local paint and body shop to get their opinion. The manager stated that the clear coat had clouded due to age/elements and the only solution to the problem was a repaint of that panel. I went ahead an had them repaint and it now looks like new!

P.S. Interestingly my Legend has been "Zaino'ed" multiple times over the period of a few years. I have refrained from Zaino on my NSX thus far... Meguiars products only. Maybe I will continue to hold off on the Zaino until we get more information.
