One thing he mentions, but apparently doesn't realize is a BAD IDEA, is using R compound tires in his third track event ever.

Having autox'd for a while now but being an open track novice, and having just started graduating to R tires, I take the above comment very seriously. R compounds are a very dangerous way to learn. If you haven't learned to drive on street tires in any type of auto sport, the R's aren't going to help .... and in fact they're going to make it harder for a number of reasons, one of which is safety.
