I feel sad. :( But no sympathy plz.

Got me wondering what are your cures for the blues?

I've tried everything NSX-related, Terry's thread :p, and gaming. no joy so far.

One thing that always cheers me up is music.

In my case, listening to my favorite music, maybe playing along with an instrument and finding something great I haven't heard before gives me a big boost that not even a NSX can provide. Although driving with some good music is probably my favorite pastime, I seldom turn on the radio in the X. I do love driving my Prelude with a 10" Solo Baric in the trunk, however...

Headphones work particularly well for me--not while driving!--since they block out the world for a little while.

A good movie works well, too. Hope that helps!

Well, I would give you ride in my NSX...but since it's logistically not possible at this time, you should find another way to treat yourself. A new toy or gadget might temporarily make you forget your blues, or a spa/massage treatment perhaps? If it's what I'm thinking, I'm afraid the only permanent cure is time. :(

Hope you're in a better mood soon!

Zoloft, just kidding.

Music always put me in a good mood. I have to be in a music mood first though.

Most of the friends I have I have know since I was Five years old. If I am feeling a little down I go and visit one have a few beers and talk about "the good old days". This always puts me in a good mood. Anytime I get in a cycle of monotony I will slip into a down mood.

Ride the NSX.

Hang out with young children.

They are the most refreshing, interesting, and fun people. If you don't have any of your own, or any relatives, then donate some time at a hospital or as a "big" brother or some other outreach program.

You wont forget it and will learn / get much more then you teach / give IMO.

Good luck. If you are really feeling blue and find yourself having consistent negative thoughts or feelings - please seek professional assistance. Remember - it is not how many times you get knocked down that matter - it is how many times you get back up.

Matteni gives good advice. Spending time playing with children is a great way to put things in proper perspective. Personally, from a religious point of view, the best method for me to beat the bad times is to sing hymns and pray in a quiet place.

Neo,

I having a feeling that your sadness is female-related?

If so, hang out with some female friends. This way, you get the best of both worlds. You're near women but there aren't any emotional strings attached. By the end of the day, you've satisfied your yearning for being around the fairer sex. :D

I love children, love them. That is all well until my one year old nephew decided to take both pair of my sunglasses and break them -- Ouch. For reason like that, I really would like a girl for my first born.

Besides the ones listed, maybe a little exercise outdoors. I nice bike ride through the woods always clears my head and even a nice jog through the forest can really make a difference. Hope you feel better soon Neo.

Conor

This has always cheered me up :D

"Retail therapy" works wonders for my wife... then I get sad. Actually I find just getting your mind fixated on something interesting helps. The trick to find something that sufficiently holds your attention.

Sadness can be a chance to understand yourself better. Sometimes the source is obvious, but other times when you're just depressed it can take some soul-searching to understand why. You can learn a lot about what is important to you at a subconscious level.

Matteni's right, if it is more than just being blue for a while, there is nothing wrong with seeking some help. Life is too short.

Thanks for all your concern... but i wasn't after sympathy.
As for what's happening in my life; is for me to know and you to gossip/rumour about. :p

Actually, i found a nice temp. solution... the NSX paperweight :D

call friends that i haven't got in touch with in a long time and just talk about the fun memories and recent success' in life.
or just talk about things that are really not that important but still make you smile.

or just go take a nap.. :D :D :D

Just remind yourself of how damn lucky you are to just be you!

Do you have all of your limbs? Have a decent job? Got a roof over your head? Are you basically healthy? Are you stationed in Iraq?

Cheer up buddy boy, we all have far too much to be happy about to be sad about much of anything.

:)

I get up
go outside
sit in front of my hut.
Drink a little
smoke a little
boom boom a little
Go back to sleep
No worries
Always happy

Prozac might be what you need and I am not kidding at all. See your doctor.

Having trouble with the lights? Instead of figuring out why, just turn the lights off with Prozac. It is easier to find your way around in the dark anyways.

You totally missed the point. That's why I recommended Neo to see his doctor to figure out what is wrong with him. Perhaps he has depression and will need treatment. What is this lights on/out bussiness?

take your nsx somewhere as proof you like fine cars, and go test drive something for the evening.

ask if you can do a bva - borrowed vehicle agreement.

Steve, I think the light business is a sarcastic commentary on the publics' belief that the medical community would rather treat mental illness(blindely) rather than understand it and discover the root cause.I don't agree with this misconception but it exists anyway. The leaders in the psych field do not condone the blanket use of seritonin uptake inhibitors, however there are monetary issues partly driving this trend and the pilots of those ships are ceo's and board of directers of pharmacutical giants, not your personal physician. The ability of drug companies to market directly to consumers has also accelerated this trend.Everyone wants a magic pill to feel better, don't blame the medical community as a whole for what is percieved to be "pill pushing careless doctors"!!:(

Hi John,
I agree with you.
My reply was also a lighthearted way to disagree with this "light out" comment. For a long time, the name Prozac was used in many jokes to the point that it is now grossly misunderstood as some "feel good" drug some careless doctors throw to their patients. In my practice, Prozac is probably the most commonly used antidepressant due to its superior efficacy, side effect profile, and versatile indications. It is also very effective for premature ejaculation, OCD, and fibromyalgia. These are conditions that probably have silmilar physiological/molecular pathways. You and I both know that the reason of Prozac being so widely used is not due to drug "pushing" by manufacturer and politicians, but rather being simply a very effective medication. Its price is actually much cheaper than Paxil, Zoloft, and others. There is no financial incentive to "push" this drug and it deserves more credit than it is receiving. Of course this is vastly due to the general ignorance of the general public. Using antidepressant does not "mask" a condition as steveny implied. Depression is a medical condition that needs to be TREATED just like hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, obesity, and many others. People don't have any idea how many lives have been saved, how many people are brought back on their feet, how many marriages are saved, and so on. BTW, I have no affiliation with any drug company, nor do I greet drug reps in my clinic.
Your humble colleague,
Steve

Thankyou Steve ,well said! Now ,whats the dose for the premature thingy?;) lol
