headed back from the gym tonight around 920pm or so, after coming threw an intersection that was a redlight on a busy street there was a white dog wandering around on the edge of the road, then he wanderd into my lane(right hand lane) so immediatley i slow down and honk the horn and come to a stop still honking, silly dog wanders into the left lane about 7 feet away from the front of my car(this whole thing is in slow motion becaus i am stopped and focused on the dog) and BAM, car in the left lane comes flying by about 35-40mph and just nails this pup(side of the dog, front of the car) sends the dog flying sideways for probably 10 ft and then starts rolling over(atleast 2, maybe 3 complete rolls)

now i am kind of freaking out saying "wtf do we do ryan" becaus i didnt know and he didnt know so immediatley i jump out of the car and run to the dog(horrible feeling its going to be dead and bloody, or have broken limbs and bloody, but it was not bloody(thank god) the dog was in no shape to be roudy/crazy and bite, so first instict was pick it up and bring it over to the side of the road but when i tried, it wimperd really bad whenever i touched him, so i petted it and comforted it for probably 30 seconds and with the rush of everything and being on a main road i tried to get it up and going to the side of the road, he kind of stumbled over with me holding onto his collar, while yelling to my buddy(road was really loud/my driver window up) to move the car over to the side of the road.

so we were on the side of the road for 5-10 minutes while i read off the number for my buddy to call(cat/dog clinic...wtf?) which ofcourse was closed at this time of the night, but had a number for a emergency 24/hr vet on the answering machiene

so we loaded up a wet/broken/abandon dog(collar confirmed it had its rabbies shots) and made the 20-30 minutes trip to the 24 hr vet, dropped it off, my buddy filled out the paper work and it has a warm place to sleep and food for the night as well as a vet to check him over.

white with black, 60-70 pound husky, great looking dog, he was a trooper in the car, my buddy will get a call from the vet tomorrow with an update on the dog, going to try and adopt him if he doesnt have a home, and ofcourse clean the wet dog small out of the mercedes tomorrow.

Good man. If there is a bill for his care just send it to me.

Man , good on ya , I love dogs and so many times here on Oz I see people hit a silly dog and keep on going , and I've helped the terrified dogs , bitey and all . My blue cross border collie got hit by some Arsehole and did not stop , he had to have his tail amputated as it got pulled out I suppose from running away while the wheel was on him .

There used to be a Dog in our neighbourhood we nicknamed "Meat head" It was so big it stopped traffic , it would wander into our house and jump on the couch .None of us where game to tell it off , it was the size of a Lion!

Hope he makes it. He may have a lot of internal injuries. That's awesome that you took the time to take care of him. He looks like a beautiful dog! whats up with the owner letting his dog wonder like that? I am not sure he should go back to that same guy.

the collar was from a "cat & dog clinic" the gal at the vet said its like a humaine society thing where animals are until theyre adopted, so i have no idea how the dog got away from there??

the dog looks alot better in the pictures than the first time i set eyes on him wandering into the road, it was raining hard all day, and the side of the road he came from was nothing but a big field, my freind cleaned him off with my gym shirt.

thanks for the replys guys:cool: ill let you know whats going on tomorrow/get a better pic next time i see him.

Good Karma is on it's way to you. I met my wife while helping a dog in a similar situation. Dogs are amongst the most noble, loving and caring creatures on this earth.

Bless you for being such a good soul!

thansk guys, it really did feel good to know i had done something good for the dog, i mean its a living/breathing/feeling/thinking creature.

poor guy looked so lost/dazed/confused(even before he got hit by the car) ive looked at the pics alot of times tonight and he went from soaking wet/moaping around in the road after wandering around for a day(s?) in the cold and rain to being dried off and loved, i will sleep well tonight

if i adopt him i hope i dont have to worry about him playing in the street anymore, i told the gal at the vet office "well atleast i think he learned his lesson about playing in the street" kind of like touching a hot stove, you have to learn the hard way sometimes

You should feel good about what you did...it was a really good thing and the right thing to do. That poor dog was confused, scared, hurt, etc...and you, I am sure made him feel better.

You are truly a great person. I've stopped to pick up lost animals and return to thier owner in the past. It kills me to see a lost dog/cat around the neighborhood. I don't understand how people can just let their pet, a part of the family, roam around. Sometimes dogs/cats do sneak out, but they are just doing what their instinct tells them. They like to explore and hunt. Thank god you were there to help the dog and every good deed goes unpunished.

idiot, it is a dog and they do get loose, stupid comments like this ruin a good story.

how dare you just assume you know about the owner, or the dog enough to make a comment like that.

for all we know it was let out of a cage or pen or back yard by some kids, or disgrunteled employee.

you MUST just be trying to add to your post count............

LOL... You having a bad day?

Awesome what you and your friend did. I hope you get to adopt that pup. He found you for a reason. You may not know why today, but someday it will become clear.

What an interesting thread. Not only does it bolster one's faith in humanity, it also (briefly) delivers a mind-bending flashback to the Civic forums.

That's an awesome deed you and your friend did there fullracehonda. Please keep us posted with his progress. I've had my share of chasing down stray dogs, one time in the middle of a busy street. Almost got run over a few times. Thank goodness the drivers were able to see me running through the street, they never would've seen the little Yorkie I was chasing...
