West Fest Update

Our friends back east have used their mob influence to get us some reduced rates on hotels in Kelowna for the West Fest '08!! Thats the good news, the bad news is that being a long weekend apparently it is customary to have minimum 3 day stays at the local hotels/resorts. If any of you have friends/relatives in the area the time to exploit them might be now!! We have chosen the Manteo Resort as the place the group is staying. They have given us a deal and the rates are now in their system. Anyone wanting to make reservations can contact the reservations department at 1-800-445-5255 and to ensure that they receive the special rates that have been set up for our group you must identify yourself as a participant of the NSX Car Club of Canada. They originally held a block of 15 rooms and as of Feb. 11 we have 6 rooms still available so book asap if you haven't already. Go to www.manteo.com to see what it's all about. I am finalizing the itinerary and it will be posted by the 15th of February.

The following names are in the system at the Manteo, if you're not and think you should be then give them a call at the number listed above right away. This list is updated to Feb 13th...

Aaron, you need to get folks to commit to either Manteo Resort or Best Western.

Dudes, you need to all stay in one place. Dont be staying at friends and family when you can stay with the Club at the hotel!

You will miss out on all the fun.

Seriously, not staying together as a group will make this event way less fun for you.
 
I agree that the Manteo resort is excellent. I am already booked there, have been since last fall.

The downtown hotels are okay if you absolutely need to be able to crawl back to your hotel, but otherwise are not a patch on resorts like the Manteo. It has an indoor and an outdoor pool, as well as a billiard table and an exercise room, restaurants etc. There is also a nice little strip of retail between the resort and downtown that is great for coffee etc.

Also, just about two blocks from the hotel (further south) is a coin-op car wash. Not a drive-thru machine, just a high-pressure wand. They ask that you use their soap blah blah blah but I didn't. Just be careful to stand back from your paint and it works quite well. Pack coins, a bucket, rags etc. I believe it's a 24-hour thing.

OK, I for one will commit to the Manteo, even though I have friends in the area I could stay with. I do agree that if we stay together as a club it would be better. Little Red Coupe has also booked at the Manteo. This would be more like a mini-holiday at a resort rather than just a place to crash at night which is more in line with a Best-Western. Can I get anyone else to agree that the Manteo should be our choice? I think for those who want to stay with family/friends thats ok too but our goal should be to stay together as much as possible.
 
I have spoken with "Mercedes" on the reservations desk at the Manteo ([email protected] or 800-445-5255) who wants people to know that the rates quoted by Aaron are not confirmed and that at this point no space is being held.

Once Bram confirms with her, she can put the NSX group in her system and start taking reservations and guarantee reserved parking (something I think we all want).

I would say, don't delay.
 
That's correct guys nothing is confirmed with Monteo Resort, once everyone is onboard with this resort, they block off the rooms with parking.

Aaron, just let me know, I'll use you as the contact, with the resort.

Thats right, as per Bram's earlier post we need to agree that this is the place we should try to get all the members to stay at (except those of course who are staying with friends/family), before the special rates we were quoted will be in effect. Right now we have two confirmed at the Manteo, so lets get more members to call and book a room there so we can get our #'s up. Don't delay guys this is a popular weekend and rooms there will fill up fast. Go ahead and use my name as a contact reference for Manteo Resort Bram, thanks.
 
I'm a little confused.:confused:

Wasn't sure I was to wait until we had a block of rooms reserved or if I was to go ahead and book a room now. So to be safe, I went and reserved a room at the Manteo Resort for three nights ... May 16 to 18th. You can add me to the list so we can get the discounts. Thanks.

Sorry for any confusion Dan. We really need to hit a minimum # of rooms in order to get deals. The Best Western won't be near the accomodation that the Manteo Resort would be. I felt I had to present the lower priced and higher priced choices. I think we will need to get 2/3 of the members attending to commit to one place in order to get the deals. Now that there are three of us booked at the Manteo lets hope more people call and register at ([email protected] or 800-445-5255) so availability is guaranteed. Like i was saying this is a very busy weekend in the Okanagan and I would say that the Manteo will be fully booked in the next week or two for the May 16th-19th long weekend. I encourage all members to call and mention that its part of the NSX West Fest - it will be under my name (Aaron Webber). If anyone has any questions they can email me thru prime and I check it several times a day so a quick response is guaranteed. Be sure to call and reserve after this Monday as the girl I spoke with earlier said our group wasn't in the system yet and the person in charge of group events was gone for the weekend. I'm starting to look at this as a holiday now that the place i'm staying at has the word "resort" in it.

Re: West Fest Update- Feb 04th

OK, i've confirmed a few things with the Manteo Resort in Kelowna. They ask that people refrain from booking until they have our group in their system and that will take a few days. They have reserved a block of 15 rooms (of which 3are spoken for) so there are 12 rooms remaining. The rooms are Deluxe Guestrooms with one king or two queen beds on the mountainside at a group rate of $185.00 per night plus taxes. If you wish you may upgrade to a different room. I will advise when it is ok to proceed to call and what name the group is under. When you do book you must pay for the first night to secure the room. The following information was sent to me by the Manteo Resort, they have set aside 12 Deluxe Guestrooms for the 3 day weekend (May 16-19th) on a first-come first-served basis. They do require a deposit equivalent to the first nights total ($185 plus applicable taxes) to reserve a room. Please follow the instructions as outlined in the information below and make sure to let me know by way of email that you have confirmed a spot with the Resort.

The rates are now in the system. Anyone in your group wanting to make reservations can contact our reservations department at 1-800-445-5255 and to ensure that they receive the special rates that have been set up for your group they must identify themselves as a participant of the NSX Car Club of Canada.

Ok, so I'm in!
Unless I'm sharing with Dan and his wife.....
I'll give them a call tomorra.
To get this right, Its for Friday nite May 16, Saturday nite May 17 and Sunday nite May 18, then drive home Monday with everyone else on the highway.
Also we stay at Bigglez' place on the way down on the floor, in the basement, next to the furnace. I buy the steaks and potatoes for the backyard bbq.
Has anyone checked into cancellation fees in case of a situation?

Just called and they have 14 rooms set aside.
Some rooms taken as mentioned.
They need 48 hours of notice for cancellation and if its a good reason, they like to give back all of the deposit.

Was someone collecting an email list to announce all events and info?
People that are not on Prime much will certainly miss this.
 
I have emailed over 35 members of prime who are in ALberta and BC, I was going to hit Washington State as well. The 15 rooms in total that they have set aside obviously do not reflect the total that have called and booked. Some people booked before we had it listed under the "NSX club of Canada" and as such should re-call Manteo to confirm they are part of our group. If we need more rooms we can get them, its very hard to guess how many will show in the end and who will stay with friends/family. The idea is to get yourself booked into the Manteo asap and that way you ensure a room for yourself and we get closer to knowing if we need more rooms. Please book now if you have not yet, the spaces will fill quickly. It looks like a great resort i'd hate to see people miss getting the chance to stay there. Check in should be May 16th and check out is the morning of the 19th (they require a three day minimum stay over this long weekend). As far as our plans go they will be up by the weekend. If you are aware of others who aren't members of Prime let them know too!!

WOW! The Manteo looks like shes gonna need an expansion to handle all our members. We are up to 16 for sures and I encourage those who still need lodging to call the Manteo Resort right away to ensure availability. If anyone has any input for evening activities i'm open for suggestions. In making the schedule I am leaving our evenings open with a list of things to do that can be determined when we meet up on May 16th. I don't want to plan every minute as it would be impossible to account for times/distances between events and the possible traffic we are going to be facing. The Alberta members may want to put forth some ideas on the planning for their drive out. Maybe one member can come forth and take charge of that.
