VTEC transition

Folks-

I noted that before getting my full timing belt/ water pump replaced, I could notice a difference both in engine sound and a slight nudge in the backside when I flew past 6,000 rpm and VTEC. After the service however, I cannot decipher the transition to VTEC, but the car still pulls hard like normal. Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance-

Nev

The FAQ doesn't seem to mention troubleshooting VTEC, but there have been other threads.

Basically you should see a drop in oil pressure when you go across the VTEC RPM boundary at 5800 RPM.

In my new '03, I notice no, or at least minimal, change in thrust or sound when the VTEC line is crossed. In my old S2K, it was very noticable. My assumption was that the NSX just didn't show a noticable boost. Is this the way it should be?

Nev,

I saw another thread where you mentioned the t-belt being done at Davis. Well, if Bernie did it there is a .000000000000000000000000000000000001% probability it is off a tooth:). He is way too good for that. I think maybe BEFORE the work your car may not have been 100% out of VTEC. Now that is has had the work it is fine throughout the range.

Enjoy!
