Need some of your expertise here....

While the car in neutral (manual trans), I increase the rpm to 1200 to 2000, I felt vibration of the car in this range of RPM, but it smooth out completely once I get over 2000 RPM. I sprayed the gumout at the air filter as recommended in the FAQ and put in some fuel cleaner in the tank, but still feel the vibration.

Is it normal? What could be wrong?

Thanks...

Do you just get a small vibration in the steering wheel?? Most likely normal. Sweet spot for this vibration is typically 1400 rpm.

No worries:)

Hi Larry,

I can feel the vibration while I was in the car. It feels kind of abnormal, but it smooth out completely when it hits 2000 rpm. The car runs strong also and just passed the smog test in calif. It is hard to launch the car in that range , especially on 2nd gear. It feels like it does not have any power because of the vibration. Why does it do that?

Thanks.

It is very hard for me to comment in any more detial, since I cannot be in the car:). But, as far as power, at 2000 prm, there is NONE!!:):). I would recommend you meet someone in your area with another NSX and compare the vibration. That would be a sure way to decide if this may be an issue.

I had a similar situation happen.. Check the plugs, air filter, etc all the usual stuff.. Mine had a dirty air filter and nasty plugs that I had replaced.. The vibration at that RPM is normal but it might subside after doing some of these things.. Also, in terms of launching the car on 2nd gear, that's completely normal! Remember that this car has a redline of 8K RPM and not like your usual cars that have lower redline.. If you try to launch the car on 2nd there is no torque there.. So that is not something to worry about.

Both the plugs and air filter are fairly new. I just put in some fuel system cleaner. So you can feel the whole car vibrate too? Larry mentioned just steering wheel is his case. Is this a common issue for the older models only? Mine is a 92. Thanks.

as far as you complaining about the vibration

Have you driven any 4 cyclinder HONDA before??

For best result, try drive a S2000 or a post 2000 civic; You will feel that there's a lot of Torque in the nsx!!

:D I don't think you can launch a S2000 under 3000 rpm in 2nd gear... umm...
