I'm certain some of you guys that visit other forums might know the skinny on this horrific accident involving a Vette that rear ended a semi. I'm in absolute awe on how something like this could happen and automatically lean towards it being stupidness - but don't know for certain. I hold no disrespect or negative opinion on the matter at hand, but simply curious on how something like this transpired and could happen. If any of you have any insight I would be intersted in knowing. Please don't turn this tread into a bash talk as it's not warranted.

Thanks in advance
Tim

The worst part of that pic is the blood splotch right where the dude's head would have been......that, and you can still see his arm just inside the door frame. Someone snapped pics before anything was moved at all.

From another forum, apparently the semi was parked on the shoulder and the Vette driver was distracted enough to wander over and never even touched the brakes.

What I found after some digging on the net:

It was on route 287 N at the border of NY and NJ the truck was parked on the shoulder of the road where many trucks pull over to rest. The driver was a 58 year old man killed instantly. The truck driver was leaning on his truck throwing up . There were no skid or brake marks at all. It was a clear day about 1 in the afternoon. It appears the driver if not trying to kill himself must have been asleep or unconscious. Very sad to look at. The accident created a 15 mile back up for 8 hours during the investigation.

Very very sad.:frown:
