Well you are talking about Jon Kuryama who happens to be the
Director of HKS and founder of Fastrax Turbo......Jon K is like Jon Martin.....both are very experienced in their prospective fields.......Jon K is one of the premier tuners in the industry and is the one who consults people like factor x with building crazy turbo cars....... He is very knowledgeable on Turbos.........so when they both design something you can bet its going to be kick ass and clean.

Ok here is some info with my conversation with Jon K.

"We made it ourselves. Some other mufflers were too loud or expensive, so we tried building our own. If there was enough people that wanted the exhaust (at least 20) then its a possibility that we can send it to production. But they will have to wait at least 5-6 months for final production"

"If the exhaust went to production, then it would probably be full stainless with the Ti tips. The piping on mine is just coated steel. It weighs somewhere around 20 lbs. I dont know about HP gains, but its probably just around 5 like most of the others. I dont have headers on the car and its all stock, so my car only dynos about 230 at the wheels. I didnt like the HP curve so I threw a VPRO in it and its alittle better on power now."

that is what he said to me in regards after asking him some questions about the muffler for you guys.

It's a really nice looking exhaust. You should get some hard #'s from him (How much would this thing go for if they got 20 people??)

It is already made and is in the final testing and dynoing stage. These important aspects still need to be completed before it can be released. All in due time grasshopper

Twin canisters (actually very similar to GM and the picture posted here), X-Pipe™, made with true mandrel-bent pipes and TBD single tips, all made from stainless steel. The exact weight is not yet finalized.

To make things easy, this exhaust will exclusively available from Science of Speed.

To further threadjack:

It's a matter of personal taste, but please don't spec grape fruit cannon/Powered by Yuban exhaust tips...

If the canisters can tuck up high enough to run a diffuser, I'd be very interested...

haha we got like 2 exhaust going here.....either way I think you guys will be happy =)

I did this one a couple years ago laying on my garage floor with a mig welder, so it looks like crap. I wanted a crossover on the exhaust with leaving the cats on. I could have used smaller canisters as the cats take alot of sound volume out. The crossover really blends the exhaust pulses and make for a hi-pitced note, very little rasp and no droning at any speed. As far as I know it was the first crossover exhaust that leaves the cats in place.

Chris @ SOS checked it out at 2004 XPO and you know if ANYTIME and SOS bring one to the market it will be perfect. Looking forward to it.

Joe

Just saw the muffler in person at the southbay meet yesterday.......the exhaust tips look larger in person.......and will not fit a 02 lower valance......sounds good at idle and not too loud during acceralation.............it can be made for people that are really interested but will take time due to sending a prototype to japan for testing and final build.........then back to the US.........so about 5-6 months wait but it will be done right...........
