valve tick

hi my valves are ticking, it comes an goes !!
I changed the oil, but same thing happens !!
my machanic told me as long as it donent get louder when the engine is revved its ok an to leave it alone !!it only ticks at idol !!
any ideas ??

When was the last time you had the valve clearances adjusted? The maintenance schedule specifies this for every 15K miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
