Used car recommendation?

I am currently looking for a used car that I will use for 3-4 months during the winter.

I do not want to spend much and would like to stay under or around $10K. Also, I would like to be able to sell it quite easily without risking too much depreciation.

Could you please recommend something that's reliable, fun to drive, quite popular in the used car market so that it will hold value quite well for 3-4 months?

Thanks so much!

1998-2001 Subaru Impreza RS. Hold their value better than a WRX, AWD and you'll have no trouble selling it. They look like so:

Great suggestion!

Any others - please keep them coming.

Thank you.

From your post and location it sounds like you are looking for something to get you through the winter in Beantown. I think the Impreza would be a great choice for what I am assuming you are looking for. Either that or a throw-away car like an older Civic, just in case (god forbid) something happens. Or an old beater 4WD truck (Bronco?) that you could care less about.

Finding a nice RS for 10 grand may be difficult. They are to popular and still sought after. I'd settle for a 02/03 civic. Tough as nails, easy on 87 octane gas and great resale.

Depending on exactly what he is looking at it for, may not be that bad to find something that fits. Still sounds like he wants to get around in the winter with some confidence in something that won't kill the insurance or pocketbook. Or I could be a complete idiot. Anything is possible...

Thanks so much for your suggestion.

So, on my list, I have so far,

Audi S4
Honda Civic and CR-V
Nissan Maxima (unfortunately, not a big fan)
Subaru Imprezza RS

What about

Nissan Xterra
Jeep Cherokee
Audi TT

Is there strong demand for any of these cars? It sounds like Subaru Imprezza RS would be easiest to resell.

^^At first glance that's definitely a scam. That is a 2004 STI which normally sells for $25000. The 2.5i sells for that price but the pictures are wrong.

TigerNSX: specifically the 98-01 RSs' hold their values and are somewhat hard to come across. I'm sure you can find one locally looking through the classifieds here:

You won't lose your money either. They're always in demand due to their light weight compared to the newer WRXs' and STIs'. If you can try to find a 00-01 as they have the LSD. The 2002+ RSs' sell for LESS than the 98-01 and don't hold their value as well.
