This means the Type S is 4 seconds faster than a 2017 on the standard tires around Suzuka? I’m curious how the 2017/2018s would perform on these Pirellis.

Yeah, hondaprojason posted that they're all sold out based upon what he heard from 2 dealerships, not from Acura or the NSX team.
There is a strong likelihood that they will sell out once the remaining 200ish slots are filled from the waitlist. But that doesnt happen until 9/1.
Personally, I've had 10-15 calls ready to order. I cant guarantee cars beyond the 2 that I got. I'm hoping for 3, maybe 4. I'm not super confident in the 4th.
Acura corporate denied that over the weekend. However, given the response reported so far, it looks like that will likely happen.

Always loved that concept from Nissan. The body came into reality for the gen 1 NSX. The Powertrain in gen 2.
Nissan doesn't have the balls to make a mid engine car (LoL hope this entices them to do so). Many of the "experts" say the VQ37 and R35 will be around for almost 20 years, only refined since 2009... Very much like the how the R32-R34 had incremental evolution. All Nissans have been ugly/boxy/larger since the 2000s. Renault might be partly to blame for that too.

In the past i let the NSX Specialist know that some Acura buyers are avoiding German products (WWII, etc) and it was a dumb move to have Contis on the car (unquote)
Funniest thing (not to use another term) I have read on this forum for a long while. Americans avoiding Contis because they are German (WW2) but buying a Japanese car
BTW Contis are made in MI, GA, NC, TX and IL.
Would love to see more data on the NEW Pirelli spec tire. If it's 2 seconds faster than the Conti on '20/21 where does that put the Pirelli Trefeo which is the option tire on the '20/21.
My guess is that the upgraded electric/ gearing has more to do with the performance than just tires.

Echoing docjohn, let's stay on topic. I'll allow this for now, but now I'm watching this thread.
I suspect you are correct in that the higher output power of the traction battery and the tuning of the electric motors will result in the seat of the pants increase in performance. They also worked the trans as well. This is Honda/Acura at its best. The individual improvements supersede the whole.
Been wondering the same thing. Just reached out to my sales rep. Hopefully I or someone will have a more concrete update soon.

Referring to the lending freeze of 2008 and Wells Fargo (the bank I refer to as a non stop white collar crime spree) not doing personal lines of credit have nothing to do with buying an NSX
I wish the guy all the best but it felt like he is over leveraged (intentionally to maximize his property investment opportunities)
Where I kind of get concerned is if I heard him correctly, he pretty much financed 100% of his MB.
I wish him all the best but crap happens and if you are over leveraged a couple of problems can sink your skip fast (he himself pointed to this)

Does anyone know of a dealer that still has a guaranteed allocation that is selling for MSRP? Or a dealer that has a greater chance of an extra allocation that is selling for MSRP? Preferably between the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast US.

Just spoke with an NSX specialist at a smaller dealer. He said Acura is revamping the allocation rules altogether because all the smaller dealers have orders but weren't given any guaranteed slots. He also said that Acura has already received more than 300 orders and that his dealership was told not to take any more (they only 1 order).
Take it with a grain of salt but the guy actually sounded knowledgeable and has been selling Acuras for 30+ years.
I guess I waited too long. Story of my life.

If you believe the NSX specialist's comments that I posted above, the entire allocation plan is being re-evaluated...including the 2 guaranteed for the top 30, 1 guaranteed for the next 40, etc. (keep in mind this same dealer is not taking any more orders so he has no reason to feed me any BS)

I'm guessing Acura will at least maintain the requirement to have an NSX technician (and sales specialist) on staff. Does anyone know if there is a list of Acura dealers that have NSX techs?

What is taking me by surprise on this (more so than the cancellation of the NC1) is the explosion in demand. So all Acura needed to do was a bumper facelift and a special edition badge and they sell out 350 in a week? If that's the case, I would be having some hard conversations with the project managers/VPs. Clearly the people in charge were allowed to screw up for far too long. They could have been selling thousands of cars.

Damn straight! Project managers 1) sat on their hands for the refresh cycle and 2) completely didn't understand the pent up demand and needs of potential customers.

Honestly, i think if you dont have an order in, you're too late.
I havent seen a comprehensive list of NSX certified stores. I'm guessing the number of certified stores is in the 125-150 range.
I was told as a top 30 store, do not expect more than 3 allocations.
I dont think they will. i think they're moving on to other things.
I was saying the same thing. where were all of these people for the past 4 years?

Yeah, I've started to reach that conclusion as well. I may try to put a deposit with a smaller dealer...Acura may decide to give every dealer at least one allocation.
If not, I'll just sit back and hopefully watch our 2017-2021s rise in value.
