Two High End Wheel Choices....which to go with?

Which wheel set looks best with 02+ conversion?

I'm convinced that what car tuners see as pretty and stylish and what the general public sees as pretty and stylish are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS.

I can't stand those wheels, esp. on something non-german. Also not a huge fan of stepped lips.

Agreed.

I was just teasing...

Why not Enkei wheels that have MAT (their style of forging)? I have the RP03 and hit some nasty potholes - more like craters at freeway speeds with no bent rims.

the S1's looks amazing on striker585's car.

Of course they are not lighter then OEM. Also Advan wheels are cast, not what I would call high end (even though they cost as much).

Hmmmm I've heard that Advan wheels like the RS are super light...lighter than OEM anyways which are forged..I would have thought they would be forged especially at their price point.

Not really feeling either of them. Sometimes the S1's look good. Maybe if the center were a different color? Gold or Gunmetal centers would look much better.

Advan RS is a Cast wheel that uses Flow Forming technology (which gives the barrel of the rim a "forged like" lightness & strength). This is a very similar process as Enkei's MAT process used on the RPF1 and PF01 wheels & the "Forged" line of Konig wheels. "Rotary Forged" wheels are also not "Forged" they are cast and use this same process to get the lightness and strength but keep the price down (Centerline wheels and TSW call their flow-forming process, "Rotary Forged" which is misleading IMO).

The Advan RS are not full forged (though there are a few models that are fully forged), and as you'll find out, the higher priced wheels aren't necessarily better than less expensive wheels made using better processes.

BTW, most Work Wheels are CAST too (including the Work S1 2 piece).

+1 on that!
My experience is that the "general public" LOVES Chrome.
Tuners hate chrome.

Definatly! I have 3 sets of rims. By far the chrome wheels get the most attention , comments, praise etc. I must admIt on my black nsx they do look really good. Especially in the right lighting. Tuners just assume they're heavy as lead when in most cases the chrome process adds maybe a quarter of a pound per wheel. I can lose a pound of weight by emptying out my pocket! In fact because of the spoke design my chrome wheels at lighter than my painted tsws.

Wow thanks for the info. Learned something new

I agree with s14_tat, go with the Work Meisters S1 but in 18-19 not 17-18.

Like this.

I had a set of S1's on my NSX in 18x8 offset 31 and 19x10.5 offset 41, before I installed the Advans Model 5's

Sorry guys but I like them both.

Just realized I wrote "oem look" when I meant "classy look". I mean wheels hat suit the upscale purposefulness of a limited run, hand built piece of automotive art :)

I stand by my suggestion of Advan, LMs, and HRE level wheels. I've run 18/19 for a year and will never go back to that diameter again. Too many trade offs to achieve that cartoony look.

Tap'n talk'n, so excuse the autocorrect :p

well that makes more sense. 18/19 are for show.....not for go..........

I've had numerous sets of WORK wheels and can honestly say that they ARE extremely high quality. On the same level as RAYS, IMHO.

What they are NOT is lightweight, at least most of their line isn't.

Even the Work Emotion CR has a "lightweight" version called the Emotion CR Ultimate (Kiwami) and it's still pretty heavy in my mind.

Work Emotion CR Kai 18x9.5 - ~25 lbs? @ $400
WORK Emotion CR Kiwami (light version) 18x9.5 - 22.8 Lbs @ $475

For Reference:
TSW Nurgburgring RF 18x9.5 - 21.1 lbs @ $256
TSW Interlagos RF 18x9.5 - 19.9 lbs @ $256
Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 - ~18 lbs @ $350
XXR 522 18x9.5 - 24 lbs @ $124 :eek::smile:

The Enkei RPF1 @ 18 x 19.5 is only 18lbs...that's the same weight as the Advan RS 18 x 19.5 that's listed at 18.5 lbs. wow did not know that. Should have been looking into Enkei wheels...had a set (different model rs7)ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337972613.179496.jpg on my 99 Prelude back in 04.
