Two if the world's rarest exotic cars, The Lamborghini Murcielago and the newly introduced Ferrari Enzo, crashed today in the Park Cities area of Dallas while street racing. There were a total of 5 teens involved. The Lamborghini apparently was driven by minor Courtney Shannon, daughter of Danny Shannon the owner of a large exotic cars dealership. The Ferarri Enzo, the world's rarest car, was driven by Rebecca West who's father is a prominent attorney. Both girls are of age 17. Three males, Andrew Lambert, Chase Shannon, and a third who's name has not yet been released, were passengers.

Both females and two males are conditioned as stable, while the third male is conditioned as critical. All 5 were taken to Presbyterian of Dallas. Rand Allemande says "I saw the yellow one coming down the street and make a sharp swerve-like maneuver and turn sideways while the other ran into it. Then they both slid into two other cars and that's when I ran inside to get my wife and call the police".

The Lamborghini is valued at $280,000, and the red Ferrari is valued at more then $2,000,000.00.

What does this have to do with Highland Park? I thought it was going to be about the suburb north of Chicago...

No pics...

sounded familar..

An idiot, if he lets her drive it without proper training and preparations.
When My daughters are old enough, I will let them drive anything that I happen to own, providing they are able to drive it.

Problem here is access and excess, They both obviously had access to Very Powerful cars, cars that they were not capable of driving at the speeds that have been alluded to.

Peer pressure is a mother, at least that's what my 13 year old tells me. It can and has played a mojor role in a lot of these accidents caused by or involving adolescents.

Maybe the Fathers did not know the kids had the cars,
Maybe they gave them the keys, Maybe they were going 55mph at the time of the accident?

Who knows? It's just a shame that more of these kids feel it's okay to blast down the city streets and Byways at reckless abandon, on whatever, whenever.

The "cultre" is becoming too Fast and Furious, chic.
The awareness of the danger that they are in just isn't there. They don't even seem to think about anyone else that could be hurt innocently.

I constantly worry about mine being pressured or urged into someone's car, and that person begins to race.

I had a very good friend in High school killed as a passenger in another friend's car as that car was racing his brother in another car.. The brothers car side swiped the other car sending it into a wall, killing his brother instantly.

Most if not all of them had been drinking, and thought this was nothing more than a good time.
None of them thought that they would be going to a funeral the next week.

Where do the kids learn this behavior? You would be surprised at how many of them answer: I see my Mom or Dad drive like this all of the time or sometimes.

I am guilty of it in the past. However, I don't practice it anymore. They see me on the track, but not on the highway. I am constantly preaching to them about driving.

Zanntech, not chasing your posts, because I kind of agree with you.

It's just that they would have been less likely to do this if Daddy (If they knew) limited them to a Volvo or a Saab or something.
Speed Thrills and the kids need to know that it Kills just as fast.
It's a shame, I hope they all pull through.
By the way, damn the cars. The kids are the important factor.

Two drivers, and 3 passengers? must have been a tight fit in one of the cars.

Well, I would imagine that would explain why the windsheild on the Lambo is busted out....passenger #3 with no seatbeat probably took a little trip....which = critical condition.

Only Kind of??:frown:....ok maybe that sounded bad, like the car was worth more than the kid..but that's not what I ment ....those cars can be dangerous in the hands of any red blooded american...let alone a 17 year old..

What's the big difference between this event and the Maserati MC12 in the snow thread?

Their money, their cars. If they killed someone then they'd be put in prison.

At least they didn't kill anyone.

Being rich doesn't have a damn thing to do with being smart.

If I was that rich, I'd take my kids to Bondurant for a month of driving school lessons first, before I let them touch any of the exotic sports cars.

I thought that too! But it was the Highland Park in LA that I lived in!
Man, life is confusing.

Agreed, but the Maserati guy knows how to drive properly...those other two, well...

The more I hear about kids messing up high HP cars (like what happened to someone's NSX, forgot who) the more it kinda worries me. I think I menitioned this before but everytime I hear a story like this, makes me want to not buy a higher performance car like instead of a TT 300zx I would get the regular one in an automatic. I hope I or my parents (meet me half way) would have enough extra spending cash to take a corse in driving like that. Good for know for future terms.

Nah, I guess I am a lil unclear. $200 or 2mil, they shouldn't be driving them if they are not mature enough to handle the responsibility.

So yes I agree with you Kind of.

The Enzo is worth 2.000.000 $?

Tought its price was somewhere around 400.000 - 600.000 $...

if it's true...
Apparently it's not, because I can't find anything about it after searching various big news websites. It appears to be one of those urban legends that someone made up, with both photos copied from wreckedexotics.com.

Here's what that site says about the Enzo photo:

Car:
2003 Ferrari Enzo

Description:
With only 353 miles on the odometer, this Enzo sustained approximately $400,000 in damages. Rumor suggests that this car was being driven by the owner's son. The owner apparently owns a huge RV manufacturing company or dealership. This is actually the 2nd Enzo to be wrecked. A yellow Enzo holds the honors as the first wreck (we're trying to get pictures of that one!)

Location:
Tampa, Florida

And here's what that site says about the Lambo photo:

Description:
The owner of this vehicle had the car for less than 1 hour before he wrecked it. The first thing he did was go back to the dealership and order another one.

Injury Report:
No injuries
