Yes, my digital cable box has a digital coax output port. At least my cable provider does and I have hooked it up to my Surround Sound Amp.

Guys correct me if I'm wrong on this. The way I understand this is on "digital cable" even if the signal is digitized, unless the signal from the originating t.v. station/network was first sent to the satelite provider (dish/DTV) in a high resolution form then the digital signal you end up with in your home is no better than a clearly receiced analog signal. Correct?
