I apologize if this has been discussed before.....

I have read the stuff on the short gears and stuff, and I know the 5th gear ratio is the same on the stock gears. According to the calculations at the GEARS page, the time to reach 140mph is faster on the short gears than the stock gears. Now, what happens when the stock and the Japanese gears go to the fifth gear? Will the top speed of both the Japanese and US NSXs be the same (at 168mph)? Which of the two theoretically will get there faster?

Thanks for the info MYNSX!

I actually wanted to know the stock 5 speed gears with stock R&P in comparison to the Short Gears with the Stock R&P...

Yes. A bone-stock '91-94 NSX will top out at 168 mph, regardless of whether it's the Japanese market version or the U.S. version.

The U.S. market version will. According to Bob Butler's calculations, the one with the stock U.S. gears will reach 150 mph in 37.78 seconds, and the one with short gears will take 41.06 seconds. Acceleration from 150 to 168 mph should be the same for both cars.
