TOP GEAR...off the air?

I was upset not to see it either. Then I found this on their web site:

"Sadly, the curtains have been drawn on another series of Top Gear. But don't fret - it's back on our screens in November. "

That is the case for the newly shot episodes in the UK viewer's market.

However, we get the previously-viewed syndicated episodes of earlier seasons in the US. I assume DiscoveryChannel is coordinating reruns w/ the newer episodes?!? :confused:

THIS SUCKS! I have no school tomorrow due to a Jewish Holiday and I was planning all week to watch this show again...DAMNIT!

I am going to try to download season 6 in one whole shot...Hope it works and people have it seeded!

It was pretty damn popular in my house! Actually, all the car guys I know have been faithfully following the show since it's US premier.

Then last night, the Tivo didn't pick it up.

Bummer- hopefully we will see it again in the next season

I also mourned the passing of this fantastic show. I do hope that it comes back...
 
I looked for some contact us info on discovery.com and didn't find any. I want to find out. dammit! I loved watching Top Gear on a 60" screen and not a 18 inch monitor!
 
I emailed Discovery Channel last night when there was no Top Gear - here is their response:

"Thank you for contacting Discovery Channel. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns with us regarding “Top Gear.”
Your comments will be forwarded to our program management and executives and will be taken into consideration.

The "Top Gear" show was not "taken off the air" but rather ran its pattern.
It is being revamped for a U.S. audience and will return later this year.
Look for it in December."

Great News. I suspected as much because the "US" version was bits and peices of the actualy British show. I would bet they could only make 5 US shows from 10 british ones.

Can you share the email address? I would also like to write and say how much I enjoy the show.
 
This show is amazing and I can't wait for the new season. What other car show drops a Toyota Truck from a 23 story bulding and shows that it runs?

I've seen all these when they first came out, ie. 2001-2004... :smile:

I have no idea why Discovery Channel is trying to keep them pegged to the BBC's schedule... :confused:

In the future, keep an eye out for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage in Dubai & Chris Bangle's intra-continental 5-series tour from Spain to Germany... :cool:
 
Aw man...I was upset to see no Top Gear last night! Can't wait for its return...will probably start hunting for UK episodes online.
 
thank god my girlfriend lives in london and sends me the dvds and magazines. a little hint, get a subscription to the magazine, they put dvds of the episodes in the magazines. the first episodes when they first started showing on the air in america before they did their own american edition are all over a year old, i hav most of them on dvd. they cut so much out of the episodes over here, you can also find alot of episodes to download off the internet if you want to. i used to love when i got the magazine like 2 years ago and no one knew what it was :frown: no everyone knows, i want it for my self. haha jk

they do much more to that truck in the uk episodes i have it on dvd its great, they light it on fire let it sit in the ocean its amazing
