Top Gear - abused Toyota pickup gets demolished with building

DAMN!

   I was thinking of buying a junker pickup so I could haul junk around. Think I'll start shopping for a Toyota.

Toyota pickups are awesome. They have excellent resale value, too.

Toyota never sold the HiLux in the states, at least not since the 70s which btw isn't close to the same truck they had on Top Gear. Current Toyota trucks are great, but aren't near as tough as the HiLux, especially now that they don't sell diesel engines, at least not in the States. It is not uncommon to see 500,000 miles even 1,000,000 miles on those engines, no joke.

A buddy of mine in Australia has a what I believe is a '86 not sure (mid to early 80s) HiLux with the Xtracab(4 doors) just like the one on the show. When I was living over there he let me drive it for 2 weeks while he was out of town. The thing is a tank. Brakes were crap, kept locking up on me, I think he needed to flush them, but down shifts slowed it down just fine. Those trucks are awesome. When I got back I went looking for one, but the ones sold to the American market durring the 80s are only superfical copies, they use a different chassis, but with similar body panels.

 Wow....a family friend has a truck that looks identical to that one (even risted in the same place)....maybe I should offer to buy it.

I had a tacoma for two years. Loved it. Held it's value too... sold it for 4k less than I paid... not bad. Tough as hell too.

Better off road than anything the Border Patrol has too!!
