Had NSX for almost 1 month now, it has been a blast :D fast, easy to drive, amazing handling, engine sound is great, more than live up to my expectation in all areas.

Took my car in for timing belt/water pump and 60k service today at southcoast acura, there goes my wheel fund, new set of wheel and other goodies will have to wait.

The car is 92, with 22k miles, decided to have all these service done, so I can sleep better at night, and not have to worry every time I take her out for a spin.

There was two other NSX at southcoast acura getting service done today, one black and one red, both looks super nice, one of which is also getting timing belt and water pump replacement.

are one of you on this forum?

my nsx was getting service done next to the red one, I did not notice the black one until I was on my way home inside of loaner car.

if you are the owner of the black nsx, what kind of wheels is on your nsx, it looks really nice, your rear valence looks really good, I only got a quick glimpse of your car from distance, I wonder if you had 2002 rear valence convesion, maybe your car is 02 model.

AG, how much they charging you for all that work? im getting mine work on soon and tryin to shop around for a good price and good shop. thanks.. i'll have my NSX for a week by tomorrow and i already put 500 miles on it. and that's not driving it everyday, i got my civic to sub for the NSX. i love this thing. even though its costing me an arm and a leg.

wow your car only got 22k miles? must be nice. but mileage dont really matter.

Tararan,

the cost is approximately $2500 total for 60K service + timing belt/water pump replacement.

the timing belt/water pump also include replacement of exterior belts, timing belt tensioner, front camshaft seals, and crankshaft seal, this was $1700

60k service is $800

I have called other acura dealers in the area, the price is around the same, Tustin acura quoted $1800 for timing belt and water pump.

I also got quote from other non dealer independent service, it is several hundred dollars cheaper, but it is too far for me.

This is probably the best investment I can put into this car before the look good, go fast mods, no reason to wait any longer, it has to be done eventually anyway, even if I stretch the time interval.

at least I am worry free for next 6 years.

acura dealer are very pricey with their maintenance..

but its deff worth it..

the black NSX that parked there belong to the owner ......it's a 2000 but has a 2002 front end conversion....Robert, the guy in charge in the part department is very cool......he always give me big discount on parts :) ...very nice guys
anyway.....the black nsx did a really good job on the conversion...

just as an fyi.. you may want to consider a valve adjustment too...

-x-

yes, valve adjustment is included in the 60k service, I would love to go to Autowave, but it is more convenient for me to drop off my car at Southcoast acura.

That seems a little steep to me.
I don't think it's out of line. Remember, labor rates vary around the country, often (but not always) due to differences in the cost of living.

I didn't know the COL affected labor prices. I thought they were pretty much standard across the board.

No, not at all. Each dealer can charge customers whatever they like as an hourly rate. (I don't know about warranty work and how it is reimbursed by Acura corporate; that may be standard across the country, I don't know.)

Hourly rates for service are about $10 less at Acura of Brookfield (outside Milwaukee) than they are in Chicago.

Then again, hourly rates at Acura of St. Louis are higher than the Chicago-area dealers, so they don't always vary by cost of living (which is lower in St. Louis than Chicago). But I would expect them to tend to be higher in, say, California or New York than in Jacksonville or Fort Wayne. Just like many other things.

Acura has its own flat rate time book for warranty claims. Dealers can only charge back to Acura what they are allowed. Times and rates are fixed.

Just like Ford Motor Company.

Surprised Nsxtasy didnt mention joining nsx club. If they havent already offered you this discount, my local dealer gave me 15% off the entire bill, parts & labor. I did a $2700 service and saved nearly $300.....well worth the cost of a membership!

For anyone in s. florida area, I recommend Neil at Rick Case Honda. He transferred out there from Rick Case Acura and you save nearly $12 an hour (on top of the discount) on the labor rate by taking to their honda dealership vs what their acura dealership is currently charging.
