Titanium Exhaust Tips - Who sells them?

Is this "rolled" tips?
dsc0066copy.jpg

Those are not rolled tips those are double walled. The rolled tips just have the edge rolled in for a more finished look standard edge tip.

Hapa you have a point, I thought the exact same thing but I am in the mood to change it up a little. They will both be available I would imagine so each can choose their own look. :)

Hello

DavidF referred me to this site regarding some interest in the tips that I offer  Let me know which style tips, finish and the dimensions you all prefer and I am sure it can be made. Will gladly share what tips I offer at the moment if any of you are interested.

Thanks
Derek
Thanks for finally chiming in Derek. I believe we can all benefit from your tips. Mine are holding up very very well after 3 years.

Based on your first post, 5-6 in long titanium portion is good for the nsx? Thanks.

Yes, I did a rough measurement on my DF 02 valence and went back to where my exhaust started curving. Yours may be different depending on exhaust but 6" is pretty decent. I think that's what the 02 tips are like-- can someone with 02 tips measure their length and diameter please? We definitely don't want it to look like the oval battlestar galactica tips where they are so obviously fake because of inadequate length. You can get away with that if you stuff two of them in there and do quad tips like DavidF did bc then you cant see into the valence! The length will be one key difference for the NSX vs. the BMW rear bumpers.

OK guys I have been in touch with Cyba, we are not going to be able to get any customized stuff right now but this may fit the needs of many people here. Here are the tips he offers: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237510

Since the have a banked portion that spans from the 57mm inlet to the larger tip diameter, I figure I can slide it into my 3" existing tip and scribe a line onto the new tips so I know where to cut it off and have it fit exactly. So, with a little fabrication, the exhaust tips will really fit on any diameter exhaust. The shop was going to have to weld it on anyways so just adding cutting won't run up the labor cost. You can also get your preferred length by choosing where to cut off your existing tips. I was hoping for a longer length of titanium but I think this will be ok as long as you don't want your tips to stick out too far (then you'd see the rivets).

So this is what I decided to go with- 3.7" Titanium Single Tips with Blue Burn Rolled Edge which are pictured here:

Im a huge fan of the rolled tips. Look at my avatar. Rolled tips are much easier to see from any angle and I really like the smoothness of the rolled area. Really shows off the blueish hue. But, you can't go wrong with either choice.

Well then I will take this 4 in tip slant cut.

Good choice, that was my #2 option. I liked the bigger tips but I really want to go for the rolled tips this time and go for a more "finished product" look than the more "raw aggressive performance/all business" look of the single wall.

Yeah you are the reason I started liking rolled tips, before that I thought they only came on OEM stuff! Thanks for being our pioneer.

Nero, by chance are you setting up a buy for this? Can I get in on it?

I need something around a 2.25" inlet to a 4 or 5" Ti Tip. Prefer slanted cut and not rolled (what Ric posted) but I can work with whatever is available?

I think your best bet is to get the ones that Ric posted- those are 4" which is plenty big and they are slant cut w/ single wall and no rolled edge. I don't think he offers 5" tips and all of his tips seem to be 2.25" inlet as they are cut for OEM BMW exhaust diameter.

3.7 and 4.0" are very similar as we are talking diameter- usually metal pipe is sold in reference to Inside Diameter so they will be just slightly bigger.

You can see the 3.7" here on a 3 coupe and 911 GT2. They look sufficiently sized to me, so just image roughly 1/8" larger all around would look plenty big:

Let's start a list of interested parties in this format and I can talk to Cyba to see what he can do.

1. Nero (3.7"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Rolled Edge/Blue Tip)
2. Ric (4.0"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Standard Edge/Blue Tip)
3. Ryu (4.0"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Standard Edge/Blue Tip)
4.
5.
6.

I'm in. Would prefer it in 5" only because it's for the "other" car :). The stupid diffuser exhaust cutouts are humongous.

1. Nero (3.7"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Rolled Edge/Blue Tip)
2. Ric (4.0"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Standard Edge/Blue Tip)
3. Ryu (5.0"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Standard Edge/Blue Tip)
4.

I'm in too. As long as its not stupid pricey like the GT-R Ti exhaust tips.

But I want the same quad tips like davidf is using.

1. Nero (3.7"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Rolled Edge/Blue Tip)
2. Ric (4.0"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Standard Edge/Blue Tip)
3. Ryu (5.0"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Standard Edge/Blue Tip)
4. OyATL (?.?"/Ti Single Wall/Slant Cut/Rolled Edge/Blue Tip/Quads)
5.

The twins are in the <$200 range and the quads are in the <$300 range IIRC.

Depending on where your exhaust exits a 5" may fit. My current exhaust seems to exit higher in the valence than my previous exhaust- probably depends on the length of the metal hangers welded on the exhaust. The width of the opening could definitely accommodate 5 inches. I originally wanted to do 5" but the more I thought about it, it just didn't seem to "fit right" with the NSX as it would seem out of proportion or to dominate the rear end.

Well I got my tips in from Derek, took 7-10 days bc they ship from Taiwan but he provides tracking and A+ packaging. The quality looks excellent -they look exactly as pictured and the gage of the piping is thick enough to be extremely strong. DavidF has had these on his car for years and they look like new so these should endure for a long time to come. Here are a few photos of one of the two tips, and I should have installed photos minus plastic wrap in a few days.

I must say that is quite snazzy exhaust set up you got there sir..I like..any direct rear shots to see how evenly the shop welded them on?

Thank you, and yes I do since I figured someone would want to see it. It will all be black with gunk so you won't notice anything inside of the pipes but for the perfectionists here it is. You can see how the existing tip was removed and we got a straight cut with a miter saw, then used it to scribe a line in the new tip. Doing it this way allowed us to slide the tip in or out, or angle it slightly and once final position was decided, it was then tack welded and reinstalled for final approval before laying down the full bead. Also, major props to STMPO (Ross) here for the V-band design as it allowed us to do this without a big fuss (no need to take the exhaust off the header and fumble with the whole octupus) AND it allows me to rotate the tips on a whim. If I want them pointed up or down, I just loosen the V-band and rotate it to the desired position.

There are more photos of the full exhaust and review posted here: http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1642335#post1642335
