Tire size and brand recommendation for 19X10.5 wheel?

I have the option of going with a 19X10 or 19X10.5 wheel on the set I'm having built up. I know 275/10/19 is recommended for a 19X10 wheel. How about for a 19X10.5? Tire brand recommendations as well would greatly be appreciated!

What look are you going for? Fitment wise in both the wheel AND tire?

My preference is flush with the fenders in wheel fitment (but not "Hella Flush") as I still want to be able to drive it without rubbing.
For tires, I prefer the look of the tires to be "squared" off (i.e. minimal tire stretch). However squared off tires don't give as much clearance..so...

My experience has shown the best overall fitment for both looks AND drivabliltiy is the following:
Front: 18x8 +38 with a 215/35/18 tire (gives enough stretch for clearance)

Rear: 19x10 +35 with a 275/30/19 tire (is slightly more squared off than the front, but not much).

If the rear is really low, you could go 19x10 +30.

For tires, I run the Kumho SPT. They are relatively inexpensive, are a Ultra High Performance Summer cateogory tire, have good treadlife, and grip well in both dry and rain.

Note that the stickiest tires aren't available in the sizes recommended for the NSX in 18/19. So far the highest performance category avaiable in 18/19 seems to be Ultra High Performance Summer (Extreme Performance and Max Performance Summer category tires are available in 17/18 sizes that fit the NSX).

I may go that HRE event tomorrow (still deciding). If I do you can see my current setup which is a 18x7.5 +34 with 215/35/18 and a 19x9.5 +29 with 275/30/19.
I don't recommend these sizes because the front rubs (it's because the tire isn't stretched enough). Both the front & rear are nicely and squared off but it rubs the front fender liner (rear has no issues).

I recommend going with a 19x10 wheel. That way, you'll be able to use 275/30-19 on it, which will let you use a better tire (see below). 19x10.5 is too wide for 275/30-19.

That last part is not true. There is indeed one Max Performance Summer Tire available in 215/35-18 and 275/30-19: the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric. It won't show up if you enter both sizes together on the Tire Rack website, because the two sizes have two different speed ratings - W and Y, both of which are higher than the Z rating on the stock NSX tires, so the ratings aren't a problem. You just need to select each pair of tires and put it into your shopping cart separately when ordering from their website.

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric is not available in 285/30-19, only in 275/30-19, so if you get those uberwide 19x10.5 wheels, you'll be forced to get a lower-performance tire than this one. Stick with the 19x10 and you'll be able to get the Eagle F1 Asymmetric, for better performance.

Ahh, I knew I missed one. And I checked the site before I posted. Stupid Tirerack website.

285/30/19 rear on a 10.5 wheel

275/30/19 on a 10 inch wheel.

I have done both with the two width type wheels. I ran a 275 on a 10.5 and did not like the start of the stretched sidewall. This also depends on brand as some brands have wider widths at same sizes.

x2...

I have 285/30/19 on one set of my 10.5's and 265/30/19 on another set - it's really up to you what you are looking for, also the offset of the wheel will matter greatly -

I should note that 265 and 275/30 are not approved for a 10.5" rim although many do it.

Angus do you have pics of those two different tires on a 10.5" rear wheel? That would help me see what the lower width and higher width would look like.

I hypothetically want to use a 275/35/19 on a 10.5" wide wheel for the rear. Now I know the speedo will be off bc of the higher aspect but I used these on my 9.5" rears before with Falken 452s and did not have any problems with TCS. The 35 series tire gives some more sidewall height so the tire doesn't look so skinny (like a 30 aspect) and I had a beautifully rounded shoulder profile w the 9.5"w. It also helped fill up my fender well bc the Type R suspension leaves the back end a tad high. But, I am worried that it may be too stretched with the extra 1" of width on a 10.5" wheel. Does the sidewall height get reduced with stretched tires? What's the consensus on the best tire size for a 10.5" with a safe offset, would 285/30/19 be better? The tire selection in that size becomes a problem though.

Here's a photo of the sidewall profile I liked (275/35//19), do the Falken 452s run wide or narrow? They didn't have a bead protector though.

Anyone else have an opinion? Bat- which tire size did you go with and let's see some close up photos... or any photos

Problem solved!!! I looked everywhere for matching sets of 215/35/18 and 285/30/19 tires and finally found one: Toyo T1R's are available in both sizes. Should be in late next week... otherwise I was going to go with the 275/35/19 in the KDW2 but they are 7% off the stock size while the 285/30/19 is just under 4% off. I hope the sidewalls aren't too short.

The T1R is a really crappy tire. Its performance is even worse than most ultra high performance summer tires, and the UHP category is nothing great to begin with (a good choice for sporty economy cars, not for high-performance sports cars). It's also been around for a long, long time. Toyo has since come out with a replacement UHP tire called the T1 Sport, although they're still making the T1R.

Car and Driver did a tire test six and a half years ago - yes, that long ago - and you can read their comments about the T1R here. It came in last in the most important performance categories; the only reasons it didn't come in last overall were long treadlife and a cheap price. I would NOT recommend them for an NSX.

Incidentally, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric mentioned above is no longer available in a rear 19" size for the NSX. The only "max performance" tire available in 18"/19" sizes is the Sumitomo HTR Z III, which is my top pick if you're stuck choosing tires for 18"/19" wheels. The best UHP tires available in 18"/19" sizes are the Kumho Ecsta SPT and the Yokohama S.drive. All three are significantly better than the crappy T1R.

Damn they were not even that cheap, I was going to get the BFG KDW2 again but I thought I should really go for the 285/30/19 as it was the more appropriate size for the car. 275/35/19 was the only rear close enough in the other make. I am pretty sure the poor performance of the tires will be eclipsed by the poor performance of the 10.5" rear wheels. Last time I put even a 9.5 on the car was crippled by the weight- it needs a turbo to run them IMO. Right now my car is a ton of fun to drive and I'm all for performance upgrades, but I'm just going to run two sets of wheels for it so I can make compromises. My lightweight wheels will be getting an extreme performance tire, most likely the Yokohama AD08. The T1R will be ok for the other wheels even if it's crappy. Plus they look good and have a bead protector and long life so they do have their charms as blvd cruisers. All those tires you mentioned are not available in 285/30/19 anyways.

T1R is discontinued, being replaced with the Sport. Not sure if it comes in 285/30/19 but I jumped ship and just ordered the 275/35/19 BFG KDW2 again.

Great looking fitment. What is the offset of those 19x9.5 (?) wheels?

Yes I know it's an old thread.
