I got my 91 NSX one and half year ago. It is running very well, specially after 50nos shot

I changed clutch and did usual maintance. (oil/filter/fuel/air/ engine flush)

But timing belt is still the same. I don't know if the previous owner changed it or I will need to change it.

I looked in the engine bay and I seen some screws wore unscreded around alternator and some screws wore little loose. This made me belive that maybe it was changed but is there any way you can tell if it was changed by few moves without to much disasemble ??

Thanks,

The only way to be sure is if you could get a hold of the previous owner or at least find out what area the car was regularly serviced. Call the Acura dealerships in the area with your VIN and maybe you'll be lucky to find a service history. I'm not sure if the service history is kept on a national database though.

I do know that TSB updates are kept on a national system since prior to buying my '91 from North Dakota, a printout showed the coolant hose TSB was performed.

Another alternative would be to have an experienced NSX tech do some snooping around to see if the waterpump may have been changed and/or if it's a newer waterpump that would need an updated cover that goes around it. If the original was kept, there will be evidence of a hole drilled in the cover as required.

Hope this helps.

Service history is kept only at each dealership, not on a national database.

However, warranty repairs and recall information are kept in a national database accessible by Acura customer service.

There was a recall involving the water pump on early '91s but it's doubtful that the timing belt would have been changed at that time.

As Vytas notes, you can call dealerships to find out if there is any record that the timing belt was changed. Unless you can find such a record, I would assume that it was not.
