I recently replaced the timing belt and water pump on my NSX. I would like to thank Larry Bastanza for sending me his timing belt write-up, which was a big help in making this a successful DIY project. I decided to generate a timing belt DIY which expands on the work Larry had already done. Larry has reviewed the final draft and I believe it is ready for general distribution.

This DIY write-up is not intended to encourage those who would not otherwise approach a job of this difficulty. It requires lots of preparation, the right tools, and plenty of garage time. It took me 4 weekends to complete and several weeks before that of ordering parts/tools and reviewing the procedure. I had done major engine work before but this is my first experience working on an NSX, and I wanted to make sure I did it right.

The DIY procedure is a 25 page Word document and is about 2MB because of the pictures included. I plan on submitting it to NSXPrime although I am not sure if or when it will be made available on the site. If someone is considering doing this work in the near future and would like to have a copy, I can email it to you. It may take a day or two for me to respond, since my kids allow me only limited internet time.

I sent out some copies this morning, one of them to Lud. If there are comments or suggestions regarding the write-up, please post them here on this thread. Thanks.

Wow, that's a hell of a contribution for a first time poster. Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the positive feedback, but Larry deserves much of the credit. I could not have done the work without his help.

Back in 1999 during the few months it took me to find an NSX to buy, I read virtually every word in the FAQ. Then 3 weeks after I bought the car the passenger side window fell into the door. If I had not known that this was an expected occurance on a pre-93 NSX, I might have been upset. I got my window fix-it-thingy and was back in business in short order. Thankyou FAQ!

Indeed. Kudos to LB also!
