can anybody shed some light on this please.
i have a 92 car and here in the uk the timing belt is supposed to be changed every 60,000 miles, but i think i read somewhere on thi site that in the states it is every 90,000 miles. my car has had the 60,000 mile change done and is now on 106,000 miles.i was going to change the belt later this year but if the belt is really good for 90,000 then is it worth changing it yet
thanks for any help you can give.

The factory service manual for 1992 states that the timing belt is to be changed at 6 years or 90,000 miles, whichever comes first. At 6 years one should also check the water pump seals and if the timing belt tensioner pulley has never been replaced you should change it at your next belt change(ditto the water pump as well). I think in your case you should be using the "time" method as rubber detioriates (without warning)with age and a belt failure will granade the motor.
