Like NSXTASY said, the car & driver tire test I thought was an excellant test of several makes of tires. The goodyear eagle F1 GS-D3 come out on top becouse it's a very good tire. It will be on my car in about a month.
Just fyi, I've noticed with tirerack you have to search by tire size, not by make. If you search by make, it will only show you the stock tires. I guess because the front and back are different sizes.
Acutally, there is a very small text link that comes up that allows you to choose "select a custom front and rear size". It comes up after you select make, year and then model. Not easily found b/c its just one sentence at the top of the page after you have selected your vehicle.
I am also looking for tires in 215/40/17 and 265/35/18. Shame that the Potenza S03's are going to be phased out. That was going to be my first choice. Now im kinda stuck and dont know what to buy. I didnt really have a second choice.
If it were my car? Easy answer. I would get the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, which comes in those sizes. Its performance exceeds the S-03 and RE050A (as noted here and here, as well as in the C&D article which included the RE050A but not the S-03), and it's a whole lot cheaper than Bridgestones. Right now that rear size Goodyear is on special at the Tire Rack and there's a $40 rebate from Goodyear through April 29, so a set of four F1 GS-D3 will cost you $608 after rebate, vs $734 after rebate for the RE050A and $924 for the S-03.
BTW, I see that the original print version of the Car and Driver article is now available in pdf format on the Tire Rack website here, for those who might wish to see all the detailed test results.
I have absolutely no idea what size tires will work well on the NSX, so I'm happy to recommend to you a front tire size that is too large and will rub in the wheel wells.
