hey guys, I installed a k&n drop in filter for my oem airbox about 6 weeks ago.I did inspect to a light degree the state of the rubber hose the connects the airbox with the throttle body at that time and it looked very clean and but there was a faint streak of white along the bottom of the tube (inside).decided tonight it was time to inspect my throttle body post after market filter and while the inside of the thottle body was pretty clean I could take my finger and run it hard around the inside of it and come up with a greasy black sludge.VERY little.looks like it came in from the tube that goes to the manifold.ok the rubber tube that connects airbox to throttle body was covered on the inside with a white powder covering the entire inside top to bottom and the full lenght of the tube.I rubbed pretty hard on it and it reallly didnt want to come off.is this something I missed when i installed the filter and is normal (like they use it to release from the molding process when its made).is it contamination and if so why is it white?excessive heat?.anyone seen this before? I have not.
please let me know. overall the throttle was reallly clean aside from the white powdery residue.one thing I did use the recommended sealing grease around the gasket on the air filter, stated it was resistent to heat and would not move.that seems to be true but could some of it got hot enough to become gas state and adhere to the inside of the tube and dry out white? lots of speculation at this point and it is not addressed in the faq's
