Just a suggestion I have. When moderators move threads, can they leave an empty thread with a link as the thread subject line that one can follow, so the poster will know that the thread has been moved, and can easily navigate the link to find the thread.

I just realized a thread I posted was moved, but thought there were something wrong with system and 'ate' my thread. I almost re-post the thread without realizing that it may be in the wrong section. I think an indication of moved thread will help greatly.

for ref, it was moved from off topic to technical section:

I think they already do. Here's a screen capture of a moved thread in the General Forum:

There is an option when moving threads to leave a redirect in the original forum or not. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I move a LOT of threads (often 10+ a day) and don't want the forums to be cluttered up with moved thread links, because they stay there forever. Ideally I'd like to be able to set them to expire in a few days, but that isn't an option with the current software.

I am more likely to leave a redirect link if:
1. The thread has been really active before I got around to moving it
2. It was an "on the fence" thread
3. It was posted by someone who didn't seem very familiar with forums
4. It is a new thread being moved to a recently created forum

I am less likely to leave a redirect if it was a posted by someone more experienced and I get to it quickly or if it was flat out in the wrong forum (i.e. something totally off topic posted in General NSX Discussion).

If you have a thread that vanished, the easiest thing to do is click on your own profile, then on the top right corner click on the link to find all the threads posted by that user (you). Of course that doesn't work right now since search is broken, but since it shows them in newest-to-oldest order your new thread will be towards the top.
