Thinking of Moving to San Diego..

If you own a home, you might think of moving somewhere with a lower cost of living, like Austin TX (suppose to be good singles city) or another fairly large (warmer) city. You might be way ahead on buying a house with equity/etc that you have in Chicago somewhere like that vs going to highly expensive place. Compare a 750k house in San Diego (tiny) to a 750k house in Austin. (mansion)

I agree, Austin is a great place to live if you are single, make a healthy living, and are tired of the Midwest weather and predominantly 'larger' girls. There are much more attractive and fit girls in Austin and SoCal than anywhere in the Midwest.

Since you are single, young, and have the luxury of moving somewhere and already having a job guaranteed, DO IT!! Try it out, and if you are not happy, then just move back. At least you will have said 'I tried it' instead of just dreaming. You only live once, so make the most of it.

Dude, San Diego is a retirement community!!! Practically every friend I have from San Diego are no longer living there. S. Cal is big, you should spend some time here to see if that is really your cup of tea. An hour north from San Diego will be nicer. North or South bound for an hour, you can be in LA or SD.

Downtown is pertty nice to hang out but when you drive on the freeway... You will have to dodge those snail mobiles.

You are a expert about San Diego because...................?
One can see things differently.Best way to judge is to spend some time and not judge, based on opinions of few.

Come and visit and Judge for your self! You are more than welcome to contact me and ask about SD.

San Diego = a close second to living in Hawaii (Oahu).

Gaslamp Quarter = get laid every night, plenty of strange ;) www.gaslamp.org

Close enough to L.A. to make trips on a whem, Vegas too, ... plenty of tracks within a few hours as well (Although we need one IN San Diego County) ... and FAR enough from L.A. not to have to deal with the idiots daily ;)

complaints:
-traffic does suck unless you strategically place yourself somewhere that you drive the opposite direction of the main traffic body to/from work.
-cost of living is retarded. If you want something nice, spacious, ... you gotta P A Y. but I live in the Eastlake area (east Chula Vista), ... and love it.

True. San Diego is a bit more laid back than LA or OC, but that's the beauty of it. People in San Diego aren't in a rat race to have the best or dress the best like other nearby cities. We are more about relaxing and enjoying life. People are not friendly, not snobby.

When Vance said it's a retirement community, it doesn't imply that all you see is a bunch of fragile old people with walkers and wheelchair waiting to kick the bucket. Far from it. Yes, we have a larger than normal popluation of older people, but simply because you can't beat the weather here. The older people here are actually very active...you find them surfing, biking 50 miles, hang gliding, etc.

San Diego, has a great mix of everything. It is very diversified in everything you can think of...culture, age, income, attractions, restuarants, nightlife, etc.

I have lived in both LA, OC, and San Diego. I perfer San diego over the other cities hands down. Anyone that has lived in San Diego will easily say the same.
