I am thinking about buying a NSX . I have always loved mid engine cars like mr2 and such. I currently drive a 3000GT and like it but I want the motor behind me. And I love the Italian style cars. If you have ideas or insight on buying I would like to hear it. I do not care to get one that might need work as long as it does not have frame damage the work it half the fun (sometimes).

Hi and Welcome to the forum,

Depending on where you are from, there's probably someone on this board willing to meet with you for a test drive, or at least to get you familiar with the NSX. Good luck on your search.

Parts are expensive....buy one that doesn't need a lot of replacing.

Welcome. Check out NSX pricing and buyers checklist in the FAQ. Use the search tool and you'll find out the common things (ie. transmission snap ring, climate control unit, window regulators, stereo, trunk & engine hatch struts) to look out for. I recommend getting an average mileage car that has 100% maintenence history. Average mileage for these cars is 5k annually. That way you'll have no surprises:smile:

I live in Tennessee (Oak Ridge)

Who wants to drive 5k per year?

I only drive 5k a year, mainly because I vanpool to work most of the time and I prefer to drive my car on non peak traffic periods. It sucks to drive an NSX in bumper to bumper traffic.

That is the "Average" mileage for these cars. Obviously there are many that drive more. The more high mileage NSXs, the better for me...makes mine worth more.

Hey there's a guy on here from Maryville, TN who gave me some advice about a month ago. I myself live in Lenoir City, but I don't own one ( still workin on that...400 days and counting), but I'm sure he'd be happy to help you out. For what I can recollect, his avatar is a Honda F1, but I'm gonna go find his user name so you can take a cruise on down Pellissippi Raceway. Not very many NSX's around Knoxville, at least from what I've seen.

Name's MJK, but not Maryville, just Knoxville, so maybe it's closer to ya. You can still take Pellissippi Speedway if ya want.

Hey Guys.

My NSX is in Jackson, fiancee is in Knoxville and job is in Detroit so logistics might be a little difficult for me. The white NSX you are thinking of in Maryville is TitaniumVtec. I think Toddejag is in Knoxville (with a silver?). I have also seen a red one running around the west hills area a couple times.

I agree with Aero. The Dragon is a great place for NSXes. Head on down to the next meet and check some out.

Best Regards,
Mark

I hear ya'! Good point. I am still under 30,000 miles on my 1991.

Is punctuation becoming optional these days? I had to read this sentence 3-4 times, before I could decode it.

First off - nice handle!! I used to collect golden-age comics and the Green Lantern from All-American Comics #16 is an awesome piece of history. Anyway - go out and buy a high mileage NSX if you want one at a cheaper price. If you like doing your own work on the car - then you cna do the water pump/seals and timing belt. I,like alot of NSX owners, only drive their cars about 5k or less a year - if you want a daily driver...well then, you may run into problems with an older NSX. I drive mine under 5k a year and have classic car insurance - anything over 15 years of age is a classic in Canada!! That saves alot on insurance...lol...I suggest having a beater daily driver if money is an issue for you - as something may go wrong some day - and you would hate to not be able to drive your car for an extended period of time.

Dam:cool:

1st of all thanks for all the feedback everyone and sorry I have not responded sooner. I think this would be the closest to owning a lamborghini or ferrari that I could get. I do drive the dragon when I get a chance (not often enough). I have done it on my motor cycle a few times. usafdarkhorse (or anyone else in the area) if you plan on being out and about some time give me a PM I would like to see your car. I own a 3000gt now and we are having a meet at pigeon forge called Blue Ridge Gathering if any one wants to stop by (we are going to the dragon) feel free to do so. damthatbeaver I think your handle is better than mine. LOL! but thanks:redface: Distance Runner give me a break I went ta publick scools in Tennessee  By the way the gaytors suck
