The PERFECT NSX Dash setup, who's got it?

Is it possible to install a system with one of those honda pods, that contains navigation dvd, etc. while still maintaining the factory cd changer receiver in dash? I don't want to cut up the dash because it is custom painted with a pretty expensive paint job, and would like to return the entire setup to OEM if I had to.

Similar to Sudesh, I wanted something with clean lines. I moved the climate control unit in the box between the seats to accomodate the kenwood touchscreen. The setup has CD/DVD/TV/USB/NAV. I also added a push button start and two cig adapters behind the ashtray.

I changed my dash up somewhat, here is a picture of the 'final' setup:

DSC04461.JPG

Electronics include:
-Stack ST8130 Cluster
-Blitz Dual Turbo Timer and Boost Gauge (DTT IV)
-Shift-E Sequential Shift Light (steering wheel mounted)
-Beltronics RX75 Plus Radar Detector and Laser Jammer
-Kenwood 7" touchsceen in navpod
-Kenwood V500 Carportal
-Garmin G510 navi (kenwood)
-Audiovox mini-tuner XM (kenwood)
-Tanner switch panel (push button starter, switches for seatbelts, laser jammer)
-Schroth autocontrol ACM harnesses with electronic cable reel
-Hella Dual Airhorns

CCU display has been changed to green to match the cluster, also, the door lighting has been eliminated.

The dome light is still un-modified

Focusing on the audio aspect of the setup, I have all of the features I want (XM radio, navi, ipod/video, AM/FM), and could integrate any additional items (bluetooth, cd changer, externally controlled devices) with relative ease - the V500 is essentially a stereo without an interface, it's an amplifier-sized unit that can be stashed away, then controlled with a screen in the navpod.

For people looking for maximum integration, as I said in a different thread, you could easily retain your OEM stereo and console with a V500 solution, the V500 would then control your audio sources (bluetooth, am/fm, cd changer, xm, navi, rear view camera, etc.), and the factory deck would control the car's speakers, and volume modulation. The car would appear to have a factory solution, with an OEM navpod.

In my application, I am using the V500 as a standalone solution, using it to turn on the factory amplifiers and having its preouts connected directly to the factory stereo harness. Volume modulation is done either through the touchscreen, or on the monitor's volume hard buttons.

Thanks guys. V2.0 is in the works

The cool thing is the individuality and attention to detail. I like them all.

"Perfect" in my eyes, here's mine. I like double din setups as I'd like to have in-dash GPS, but surely the glare is a problem. My car came with an empty NAV pod, but I didn't like the look of the "hump" in the middle of the dash, so I sold it.

Wow nice!!!!

here is mine... One of the famous Tamoske's CF center consoles:biggrin:

Hey Kid,

Thats exactly what I plan to do with mine too. I found that my ashtray door is now useless so I am going to mount my two aem gauges there with a CF panel I got from DF. I'm hoping to end up like yours. Was it hard to mount that filler plate and gauges?

John

So, you wouldn't roll in that car. Paaleeease!!!!

Honestly?? No.

I think I really like VROOM's the best as well. I have the Dali CF center console, and I'm sick of the CF look. I'm thinking of painting it. Silver, Gun metal or high gloss black like piano keys. What do you think?

What gauge is that? Do you have a pic during the day? What was the install like?

Good:
Everything ;)

All critical information in easy to read places, high contrast displays, fully configurable, can display any engine parameters, can change engine maps, etc. on the fly, Navi is at eye level, antenna is more powerful than regular set top unit, configuration is upgradable, customizable, and looks OEM.

Bad:
Nothing really, some configuration bugs being worked out, doesn't make me coffee (yet)
