The Pelletier Project

I was suprised too. The ambient temp was probably 15-20 degrees warmer, which will affect the dyno. Same dyno machine. The diameter of the wheel/tire combo should be very close top before, but im not sure after going 17" to 19" (lower profile tires should make up for that difference). The rims did weigh more, which would seem to translate to the biggest change. I am kicking myself for not waiting to dyno before the new rims to give a fair reading. I sold my old rims, so unless i borrowed someones OEM rear rims it is still a question mark. I truthfully do not think the headers will give you more than 5rwhp, although SOS claims differently (agian it is my opinion since my dyno results are flawed). Other prime members told me similar stories using headers on 97+ models. If you are going SC might help more.

Nice mods and as others have said, very tasteful. Regarding the gains, the exhaust system is like a river with a dam. No matter where the dam is placed on the river, the total system output will be affected. I suspect that the exhaust may be more restrictive than other exhausts we have tested with.

For example, with your same engine configuration, the TAITEC GT LTW with AIS (which produces about 7 hp) has dynoed to gain more than 18 hp:
http://www.scienceofspeed.com/produ...SX/TAITEC/GT_Lightweight_Exhaust/7b07a444.jpg

We've dyno'ed our header before and after on a 3.2L with CTSC and made 16 hp. We have not found a NA 3.2L customer to test with yet.

Your loss does seem abnormal, and in our experience, those wheels will not produce that level of a loss.

take care,

Congrats on your NSX. That is one really clean looking car.
As others have already mentioned, your Momo wheel looks very good also. This is actually the first time that I see a steering wheel that I would consider putting on my car also. You mention you have the 350mm version but somehow, it still looks smaller than OEM. Am I correct ??

Also, what color did you choose. Looking at your interior pictures I must say that it looks might lighter than mine. I have a '94 with black interior and that means really black but your car seems more like light grey or even silver-like. Is that your camera or is your interior matched to your exterior color.

Last, since I'm asking questions anyway, if one would change your wheel, what else is needed. Just a hub or is there more to it than that??

That wheel looks great, I agree... but aren't you worried about not having an airbag? not trying to open a can of worms... I know several long threads exist on this... but after reading them all I still feel the airbag has some serious benefits.

Chris is this fact? the header change alone on an NA2 with the CTSC made 16 HP? that sounds like an aweful lot on its own... is this with or without cats?

I really cannot say if the headers made more hp or not since the rims and warmer temp were variables that were different. Your results on dyno are real so i believe people should go by that. My exhaust probably isn't as free flowing as a GT LTW, but is much more free flowing than stock as evidence by my 6.4 rwhp gain (and i think that # would be even higher if done on a dynojet). I do believe that PRE 97 models benefit GREATLY, but post 97 minimally. I think your product is the best aftermarket headers out there and feel i am producing more HP at the crank, i am just loosing it somewhere in between.

Wow....I am surprised to hear the S.O.S. headers really did not do anything. I was thinking of getting them for my '94 NSX but may rethink spending that kind of money for no real gain. :(

The SOS headers should help you alot, since your car is a 94 model.

Yes my wheel is smaller than OEM and thicker! I chose the black leather wheel to go with my onyx black interior. May be the lighting making it look lighter in the pic. I love the SOS rapid hub adapter. That is all you need.

To make a long story short, i am not worried about not having an airbag. I always wear a seat belt and drive defensively. That is all i will say. There are many opinions about this on other threads.

I really admire the mods you have done (plus the effort you made to photo the car from the same angle in the same place each time). Nice work!

1997 NSX, 3.2L with Comptech Supercharger. The car was tested back to back with a Tubi exhaust (it made 12 hp with header) and TAITEC GT Lightweight (it made 16 hp with header).

Cheers,

I know it was mentioned earlier by pelletz, but there are substantial gains to be had with aftermarket headers on pre-'97 NSXs. The '97+ stock manifold is decent and more efficient that the early models. Therefore, for your '94 you'll notice a significant improvement and it is definitely worth the investment IMO. Take the plunge Mitch!

Pelletz I absolutely love those wheels with the color of your NSX, a perfect match! The steering wheel also looks phenomenal. By far the best looking aftermarket wheel that I've seen IMO. Now we might have to look into that; thanks for helping us spend more money.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I have been trying hard to document the progress of the car in the most scientific way possible. I have made a few mistakes, i.e. changing too many variables before my last dyno, but i hope the data i do have helps other prime members. I will add pictures of the before and after of the interior lights this afternoon (halogen to LED). Great mod for a low price! I'll post them in my first post.

Chris correct me if I am misunderstanding, but 16 HP gain with headers and taitec exhaust. Who is to say 14 of those 16 aren't from the exhaust? or are you saying 16 MORE with the exhaust already on?!

I love how you parked the car in the same exact position before and after the drop... did you outline your feet with chalk the first time when taking pictures? nice job on the documentation so far....

Hi Pelletz,

I have located a shop around where I live that might have the same Momo Millenium steering wheel that you have but I still have a question for you.
Could you post a picture showing the hub that your Momo wheel is attached to? I have looked at the SoS Taitec hub but it seems a bit large compared to OEM.

Thank you very much in advance.

This is the hub

If you plan on keeping the cruise control buttons as i have, this hub has grooves for the wires.
