The Outfield

Bowie! Definitely! (loving the alien)

Never got into GNR except when they were playing copy tunes like "live and let die". But that band had balls.

I'm into Velvet Revolver, tho and just learned a good old friend of mine runs their monitor mix on tour. Way cool, Junior.

Dep Mode.....really missed that bus too, but what I heard, I really liked.

VH, will always make the car rock. They mixed it right. Seems like this thread is starting to just call out bands of the eighties, so let's not forget The Cars. And U2 was from that era.

Since Vamp keeps the Glam Rock theme going, I'll go out on a limb and say I like cueing up Winger in the car stereo. My wife really gives me the (you have got to be kidding look) but the drummer is from the Dixie Dregs and all those guys can play. Crank up some of those almost too lamb lyrical songs in a car stereo and the speakers will saturate to a meltdown.

Man, it's hard to let go of the past........ Thanks for starting this thread. Thought I was alone on this subject.

My wife hates it when we are driving in our TL and I turn on XM radio to the 80's channel. It brings back so many cool memories for me.
I used to deliver pizzas back then and I listened to ALOT of music on the radio for hours. It just seems to me that the music was so much better then than it is now. I guess the artists were more concerned with making cool tunes and talking about love instead of killing everyone, hating authority figures in life and rebellion in general.
Guess I'm just getting old. :frown:

So true and so sad.

Ah, the 80's!! I'm a complete 80's music nut, and a HUGE 80's metal freak!!! But hey, it's what I grew up with. The 80's is what inspired me to play guitar and learn music. IMO, the 80's had REAL guitar players like George Lynch, Reb Beach, Steve Vai, Warren DeMartini, and of course Eddie!!!

I've been dying to get an 80's rock cover band together. Push the gain to the max and crunch some power chordes baby!!

Oh yeah, The Outfield were awesome!

My wife calls me "the 80's music trivia mechine"

anyone know who New Order were before they changed thier name and why they changed it?

they were the "joy division" and they changed thier name and musical style after the lead singer killed himself.

how about wich U2 member had a brother in the band for a short time while they were a 5 piece?

Warren DiMartini............man, that guy could weld on a guitar! Whatever happened to him? Also, how about the guitar player for Mr. Mister? Very limited riffs from that collection, but I can still get into the sounds he produced.

One more timeless guitar player in my book was Roger Fisher from Heart. I know, that's more of a 70's reference but I still think the stuff he layed down holds up today.

As for the trivia questions........beats me?

I love the tunes of the 80's. I'm also pretty partial to a lot of th eone hit wonders. One of my favorite songs is "Lunatic Fringe" by Red Ryder.

Some of my favorits bands from the 80's along with those already listed are:
Rush
Yes
Toto
Quiet Riot
Ratt
Scorpions
Van Halen
Icehouse
Def Leopard
Beastie Boys
RUN DMC

and the list can go on and on. I really can't name any particular new group I liked from the 90's because I wasn't into the grunge/mosh pit scene.

Icehouse............Good addition, forgot about that one. Also, Wang Chung....soundtrack for "to live and die in LA" has some pounding beats for the car stereo!

I like Winger.

(she is only 17 ) is a cool ass song.

who knows NITRO they have Michael Angelo as a guitarist this guy is just to good I mean like top 5 in history or guitarist. I have this really cool video of him playing but I have no idea how to put it so all you guys could see it. But trust me he rules.

David "the edge" evans, brother was in U2 for a short time.

UHHH RUSH....worst band ever!...they only have one song ..they just gave it 36 differnt names.

Off topics: but here is the list of my fav. bands from the 80's

1. Van Halen
2. Scorpions
3. Iron Maiden
4. AC/DC
5. CheapTrick
6. Ozzy
7. Thin Lizzy
8. Pink Floyd
9. Foreigner
10. Last but not least....>>>>> The Babys

Journey? No one has said Journey? :( They were a great band too.
The drummer for BOC lives about 30 miles from me. He throws huge parties at the beginning of every summer. Lots of local bands come and play.

One cool thing about The Outfield: Most of their album names are related to their baseball-themed name. Examples: Play Deep, Diamond Days, and Big Innings (their greatest hits album). With America being the baseball capital of the world, you'd think the band was from the USA. Surprisingly, they're from London, UK.

How about:

Firehouse
WhiteSnake
Great White
and
DOKKEN???

Those guys ROCK!!

And don't for get Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead Or Alive album....
