I'm in LA... in your backyard now guys... and loving it. :D

Things are not unlike Australia... but I knew i was in America when in the first 20mins of being here I'd seem 4 H2's, 5 Escaldes (?), more GMC SUV's than a Arnold Schwarnegger action movie, and a H2 limo! :)

I was impressed when i saw THREE NSX's on the way to the hotel... one at the airport with the plates 3PGR317 (looked like a 95+ and it had been badged! ) , and another one with RRSNAKE which had a chick driving it. Still, i'm looking forward to seeing the GOOD STUFF down in AZ. :D

anyway, see you all soon. :)

ps. Dippy man, you should have come... it's SOOOO NICE and WARM here! :D :D :D

Welcome NEO! Did you receive the customary full body cavity search at the airport? I know it seems strange, but we do that for all out of towners. Don't worry about it. You'll be walking fine in no time.

HEY NEO!!Welcome to LA! I'm glad you made it! I just moved here so I'm not the best person to show you around... Hopefully the Southern Cali group planned on meeting up with you before the NSXPO!

Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the USA Neo.
White92..I think the cavity search is on the way out of the country so no Big Macs can be smuggled out.

Whoops sorry about that. I didn't mean to let that slip. Forget what you read above Neo. The trip home will be fun! Just remember to show up to the airport 2 hours early.

Yup- that sounds like LA alright... Funny you referenced Ah-nold- you know you are in the state that he governs right?

LOL... thanks for the warning about the cavity search... though i have one question: how do you distinguish between a fresh big mac and one that's been pre-digested? They look pretty similiar to me. :p :)

I took your suggestion and checked out Santa Monica beach yesterday. It was stunning, although the homeless people were a constant reminder of the gap between the rich & the poor. :(

So far nobody has questioned me about my accent... though plenty of shop workers have asked me to repeat what I'm saying. LOL. I'm having fun relating between Aussie and American names -- for example, you have "flip flops" but in australia we call them thongs. You can imagine the shopkeepers look when i said i wanted to buy "these thongs" and hand him a pair of flip-flops! :D

Arnie is a pretty good "Governator" :)

I love all your cars here. So many new and expensive vehicles (in AU at least) it's amazing. Seeing a hummer on the street still gets my attention (I've seen maybe 2 or 3 in Australia in my lifetime). And y/day I saw my first SUV blinged up complete with spinners!!! :D LOL...

One last funny thought, the six-lane freeways are so cool here. In Australia i think the largest is a 5-lane highway in Queensland linking The Sunshine Coast with the Gold Coast. And your freeways are just like the computer game GTA:San Andrea's....without the car-jackings. :D

If it's Monday and they only charge you 99 cents for your Big Mac, then there's a 50/50 chance that it's "fresh" (according to their standards. not mine)

You saw a "hummer" on the street, "hummer" here has a whole LOT of meaning. Brian was saying something about buying a Hummer to get a "hummer."

I forgot to mention that part of Santa Monica...was one of the reasons we looked forward to moving our office off of the Third Street Promenade. There's nothing like leaving work at 2am, walking down a dark alley to the parking structure, and finding people asleep in the elevator and the stairwells. Ah...the citrus smell of cleaner used to mask the odor...that's a smell that lingers.

So far nobody has questioned me about my accent...

This IS L.A. :D

I've always called them thongs too...and I grew up in SoCal.

I love all your cars here. So many new and expensive vehicles (in AU at least) it's amazing.

This IS the car culture. There are places (PCH or Mullholland Highway) where if you stay put for an hour, you'll probably see every car you've ever wanted to see in your life.

Seeing a hummer on the street still gets my attention

That feeling will go away...don't worry. :p

One last funny thought, the six-lane freeways are so cool here.

I take it you haven't been on them during rush hour yet. That's another feeling that won't last.

It's a shame I'm so busy with work (I still haven't packed for NSXPO)....otherwise, I'd try to get together with you before we head to Arizon.

Hey, what you do in your own knee-padded life is your business.........

Welcome to SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Sir!!

Welcome to the U.S.! I hope that you have a blast in the states and at NSXPO. I am a little bit jealous. I wonder if I can get creative with my avatar I will get my tickets paid for next year.
I remember living in SoCal and it is like GTA, and as far as car jackings, you just have not been in the right neighborhood yet. I remember moving to SoCal from Oahu and my parents bought me new shoes when I started at my new school, there was only one problem, they had red on them! I wore those shoes to school for two days and got new ones. Stupid whetto(sp?)!
The move from HI to CA was like your move from AU to LA. In HI I had a pigeon accent from school and people in SoCal didn't know what I was saying. At McDonalds I asked "What no Saimin?", they thought I was crazy. My HI boys will get it....

Ok I have to ask. What is Saimin?

Are you going through vegemite withdrawls yet, or did you bring a secret stash. Nico kindly offered to bring me some, but even being half Aussie I still had to decline.

We'll see you soon in AZ!!!!

Congrats on getting to L.A. safely!! I wish I could be out there to meet you.....sorry man. :(

Saimin is a plantation era inspired delicacy unique to Hawaii. It includes elements from Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Hawaiian and Portuguese cultures.
Yummy!!!!! Hot noodle soup even at McDonalds!!!
In HI you also ask for Shoyu not soy sauce!

Crystal Cove Saturday mornings between 7 am to 9 am.

I know all the sites at least about Orange County, Ca.

Give me a holler if you can. Dinner on me. Maybe go see my friend Rhys Millen a local down under who made a home in Southern California. He just bought a nice pad in Dana Point, near the beach.
