I concur. If the vehicle had less mileage, the owner would probably ask for more.

However, this is a subset of my initial argument. I never gave a min desired mileage for paying $45k for a 2002 NSX and we both agreed that the mileage wasn't enough to be a deal breaker.

With that said I just did a carfax and this car is a 1 owner and has a perfectly clean title. JH4NA21642T000066

So it's a 6 year old one owner NSX that averaged 8800 miles per year with a clean title. I'd buy it if I were in the market. It's a color that I liked too.

Actually, I suspect the color is a detriment to its value. It's orange on orange for God's sake. There's a local NSX owner who has this combo, and he's gay. Need I say more?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I actually like the Orange/ Orange and Yellow/ Yellow combo's. They make the car look even more exotic. Very eye-catching and attention grabbing.

The car looks fantastic in basically every color, although I think that the grey/ silver colors are a little dull on this car for some odd reason. Maybe it's the paint job but silver sports car just don't do it for me... unless they are convertibles with a funky red interior.

Side note* The Audi R8 looks great in Silver!!!

#1: Unlike the NSX, Porsche's have options. My car was optioned out at $105,000 in 2006.

#2: Apparently you aren't aware of 911 resale values if you think that it will be $35k in 4 years. Take a look at 10 - 12 year old 911's. They still go for $50k. And Their list price back then was in the high $60k range.

#3: You do realize that the cars you probably see for less are not C4S right? The number 4 add's about $6k to the price and the S another $10000.

1. Options = Have no positive performance effects on the cars at full limits, it actually adds unwanted weight.

2. 993s took 350 man hours to build while 996+ half hence the value.

3. The S body hurts top speed and adds unwanted drag, the 4 wheel adds ofcourse weight and you cannot do burnouts boring.

I would much rather have a base model and put it on a diet, heck give ma 964 RS the lightest porsche less 73 rs.

1) I am extremely happy with my car's performance. It's the best handling car that I have ever driven. It may not be the fastest, but it's the most balanced.

2) I don't care about how long it took to build my car

3) I am not going to do 186 MPH and I didn't buy my car to do burnouts. I'd rather have AWD for better cornering. I take my car into the Blue Ridge mountains, which is why I specifically wanted the AWD. And on a side note, I believe that the new generation sports cars are showing us that lighter is not better i.e. Nissan GT-R. That car weighs a ton and is probably one of THE BEST sports cars in the world.

"I believe that the new generation sports cars are showing us that lighter is not better"

...

+ a f'n big 1!!

There's a reason E30 M3 is regarded the best M-car in the world. There's a reason Elise outhandles and outruns cars with twice the power and twice the price. There's a reason Radicals 50-60.000 USD kit car weighing a little more than a fart is holding the current N ring record for road legal cars, beating Carrera GT by a minute and hardcore stripped out GT2 tuned beasts by Techart/Gemballa/RUF by more than 45 seconds! There's a reason Ferrari can charge 50-100.000 grand more for a light version of the F430, same with 911 GT3 RS, GT2 and Superleggera. There's a reason the next super Ferrari will be much more compact and lighter and Ferrari are doing heavy research to cut weight on their cars.

Go find another arguement. Please.

If you take a look at "Ring" times, you will notice how all the new fat bloated pigs are starting to find their way into the top 20, i.e.

1) Lexus LF-A at 7:24

2) Nissan GT-R V Spec at 7:25

3) Mercedes Benz SLR at 7:38

4) Bugatti Veyron at 7:40

5) Lamborghini Murcielago at 7:43

Now I am not taking away what Radical, Donkervoort, Pagani, and Koenigsegg accomplished, but still.

And the E30 being the best M3 is an opinion. It also depends on what you're measuring. Just like people "say" that the 1997 993 is the best 911. But the numbers don't say so. They all point to the 997 just like the numbers are all pointing to the 2008 M3.

And The Elise is way down on Ring times. And I look at the ring as a better indicator of how a car performs overall. 0-60 is just a straight line and if I bought an Elise, it wouldn't be to drag race anyway.

There is a flipside to every story. In this case every car you mention has alot of horsepower or many turbos and all wheel drive. Please compare cars in the same generation and time we know a 91 Nsx is not as fast as a Viper twice the power.

Very true. And that was indeed my point. Car companies are starting to go to heavier AWD sports cars in lieu of the Elise idea of light weight cars. Even the R8 is almost 3500 lbs. Same with the 1 Series.

But After driving both light weight and heavier sports cars, I like the stability of heaver sports cars. My S2000's rear end was all over the place. Yea, it made me a better driver, but being on the Dragon was like a death wish.

Agree,
Newer cars require less skill to drive fast with virtually no feel required.
I mean, how could you feel anything anyway in a 4000lb car?

I do see your point however, Its is on your head.

Re: Not so Mythical $25k NSX.

I guess $25k isn't so mythical anymore. There are 20+ for sale below $25 on Autotrader.

wow $25 for an NSX:eek:

 j/k I think you meant $25K , but too bad half of those $25K NSX's are scams and the other half are prolly tore up from the floor up:biggrin: or just people who actually need to sell their cars:redface:

About 5 years ago, I saw an ad in Des Moines, IA where they had a Black 91 for $19,999 in the local paper. I called, but it was gone.
I never got to see the car.. it was 2 hours away....
I'm not sure if the dealer or the previous owner knew what they had & just went with the KBB price or what.

Personally, I just missed out... I purchased my 91 off eBay.... the 2nd time listed... the first time it went for just under $25K, but the person who won the auction didn't have the money.. when asked why he bid, I guess he said he didn't believe he would be the high bidder at such a low price.

Argh.. if I had only seen it at that time... would have saved me about $3k. But even at the higher price I felt and feel that I got an exceptional car at a very good price.

It had $38,500 miles on it (Easter 2008), Antera 309 wheels, some nice upgrades, West Wing Lip, side skirts, and some others... the water pump & time belts had been changed, the clutch was just replaced at the local Honda dealer, less than 700 miles on it.... the car looks almost new... super clean, still smells new... people are blown away when they find out it is 17 years old.

The front lip has a few rock chips, but that will be an easy fix to have it repainted.

I figure the car was worth a minimum of $30K if not closer to $35K. I am blessed and feel blessed.

I believe there are some out there for the $25K to possibly slightly under that.... I suspect if they are like somebody previously mentioned... somebody with lots of money who doesn't want to hassle with selling a car and is willing to take something less to get rid of it....

Even though I could have purchased the same car for just under $25k on a previous eBay auction... I have no regrets for paying what I did....

The car is awesome.... it not only blesses me, but others.... I can't count all the smiles the car has given people... most people where I live have never ever seen one in real life. Some can get very excited... if they are not car people, then they could care less, but if they are car people they go wild.

Hopefully they will continue to keep their value... they are a beautiful car, very well engineered, dependable....

Try doing this in a Datsun 280Z while trying to keep up with NSX's in the wet. Come on 30+ year old suspension! Don't fail me now!

It was like bittersweet terror/ecstasy.

I refuse to let this die...

And I won't stop until someone has admitted that I won this flame war all by myself.

I am truly "An Army of One"!!!

You will never learn.

The first car is likely a scam. There is no VIN to check against a very similar car for sale at $69,000.

The second car has body damage that has been repaired.

Back to basic training for you . . .

no dealio...

The '04 NSX-T 6spd. w/ 20k miles is listed for $45k. If legit, I will buy it tonight for $50k & fly red-eye to Colo' to pick it up ASAP. It's under-priced by at least $20k. . .

As stated by brahtw8, this '02 NSX-T 6spd. w/ ~25k miles has an accident-history.

As-per the ad':

"Had prior light damage to passenger front fender and front bumper, hood is original, so the damage was not extensive. No signs of repair, paint done beautifully, runs and drives like a dream. Repaired by an NSX specialty body shop. Will come with UT Rebuilt/Restored title."

For a $60k+ car to be considered 'totaled'/salvaged/rebuilt in terms of title, generally the damage incurred has to approach or exceed 2/3 of it's value. That means approx' $40k worth of damage was estimated at the time of insurance assessment/adjustment.

Upon careful/professional inspection in-person, might be a NSX worth pursuing if the repair work done was up to par.

Anywayz...

nastinupe1, you F-A-I-L.

(and I realllly hate using ubiquitous/played-out inter-webz cliches/buzz-words, but I can't help myself w/ the likes of you at times)

HELLO GANG,

MYTHICAL OR NOT. A MAJORITY OF THE POPULATION WILL GO TO KBB OR EDMUNDS TO LOOK UP FOR THE PRICE BEFORE THEY BUY A CAR.

WHOEVER HAS THE MONEY WILL RULE - IF THE CAR IS ASKED FOR TOO MUCH $$, THEY WILL SHY AWAY AND LOOK FOR ANOTHER /DIFFERENT CAR.

A BEAT-UP CAR SUCH AS 100k+ IS WORTH LESS.

PLEASE LOOK AT THIS AD. HE IS ASKING FOR $23K YEAR 92 . MILEAGE IS 117,XXX MILES. I WOULD BETCHA HE WOULD LET IT GO FOR $20K.

This car isn't too far from me. Anyone want me to check it out - if you are seriously considering buying. Heck, I might as well grab it as a daily driver...or at least offer something for the rims.

That car is like a reverse Smokey and the Bandit rip off. Please don't get that car.
