The day the Earth stood still!

Saw it yesterday. Felt like a 2 hour long save the planet commercial!!!

That's what I've heard. I was planning on seeing it before a friend told me it's a global warming commercial you have to pay for.

I thought the movie was OK at best, I probably would of liked it more if it had more similarities with the original.

Overall I would say it is a movie you should wait for HBO.

I won't see it simply because of the main character. I can't stand him. The ONLY movie he was ever good in was Bill and Ted.

Disappointing. Cool Watchmen preview though and we saw it in a new mini-IMAX theater that was just added to our local movieplex.

WARNING: MILD SPOILER ALERT BELOW

Too friggin preachy about the environment.

The story really didn't hang together. With a better script it might have worked OK. I actually thought Keanu did an OK job. He kinda like an alien to begin with, so it was almost believable.

There were several plot things that really didn't go anywhere. Will Smith's kid for example - there was a whole subplot with him and his stepmom and his father that I thought would make sense, but it really didn't.

And the whole reasoning behind why we were spared at the end was just silly. Here's an advanced alien race that knew all about us and had already made up their mind to waste us - but then at the last minute they/he changes their mind because of something that should have been real obvious. Oh, OK, we will spare you because you're really really sorry and you may change in the future. Yeah, right!

Some of the FX were cool and I kind of liked how Gort was realized. But in the final analysis The script and the story was forgotten.

Before going to a theater or renting for home, I just watch the lesser feed online. If I like it, I buy or go see it. If not, I move on. Same with music. Why waste?!

If you have problems sleeping at night...I recommend this one. Slept like a baby!

I lucked out tonight. Hollywood beamed this movie into outer space, so I finally had the opportunity to watch it from the comport of my vacation home on Titan. I wanted to watch it before ET did and got any great ideas. My review: Another crappy overly-sensational D doomsday drama with all the very latest piss poor budget special effects so hollywood can again save the earth. I couldn't even get through it.

Below: the gist, in the interest of saving everyone 1 hour and 43 minutes that I promise you'll have wanted back:

Al Gore's lucky I didn't pay the $28 to go to a movie theater myself or I would have seriously joined-in on the class action lawsuit:

The Gort robot was well done (except for the military naming him instead of Klaatu, rock on acronyms!)..the rest.......not so. The silicon? bugs CGI was lackluster.

Re-watched the original and it still has a better feeling of suspense and mystery.

Does Keanu specifically choose roles with a suit and tie? Or is it for brand recognition/marketability.

It would be nice to see some risks with originally story telling rather than sequel after remake after rehash after re-imagining after reboot. Although......Sometimes it's nice, BSG looking at you!

I guess both the public and the companies can be blamed for that one.

Of course i'll be watching t4, star trek, fast and the furious 4 etc. When the buffet only has chicken to choose from, you're gunna end up eating chicken.
