The current POTM is a must-see

yeah, that should be pix of the year.
very good composition and cropping.

what film did he use, and other shot details (shutter/f-stops/focal length/filters)?

looks like a 35mm-50mm shot. summed up in one word: "brilliant".

i don't know about the diffuser... the rest of the light in the image is too sharp. good chance he used a polarizer; yup. i was wondering if he used an ND filter (resembles some shots i've take with a neutral density lens)

of course, we don't know how much post-work was done on the image in photoshop.

perhaps the entire car was added in later (afterall, the reflections on the window look a little weird; i guess due to the polarizer?)

Hello All,

I had no idea my photo generated so much Feedback. It was great to read the responses and speculation. Here are the facts:

* I am an Amateur Photographer(Which means I do it for fun!)
* The shot has been cropped slightly but not modified in any other way.
* It was shot with a Canon D60 6.0 mp Digital Camera and a 28-135mm lens at 28mm 1/60 sec at f/11
* I used a graduated neutral density filter on the lens to darken the sky more to how our eye sees it. The clouds would have been washed out otherwise.

I love the spot where the photo was taken and have been there many times over the past few years shooting the various Oaks in the beautiful bucolic settings(minus the NSX of course!

I have more shots from this same day that I think are quite nice as well. I'll e-mail them to anyone interested.

Thanks so much for all of your great feedback!! Maybe I should turn Pro!! Anyone want to pay me for the shot so I can start my new career?

Imola,

That photo is greatness. Perhaps you could throw a couple more tasty morsals out way if you get the time.

I am not a photographer in any way thus I cannot give any expert analysis to your photo. However, I will say this. Your picture looks like Honda marketing material.

Thanks again for the great photo!

Please do, they are gorgeous! If its not too much trouble, could you post them at 1600x1200 or better for wallpaper? If that doesn't work, my inbox holds 10mb at a shot.

Check this link Imola - should tell you everything you need to know. Start with a publicly acessible host (like Imagestation) then link to them by using tags. Full details at the link.

Where are you exactly? I'm in Pleasanton, obviously not too far from the neighborhood of the picture.
I would also like to offer my compliments - beautiful job.

Imola,

Is it possible to attain the same level of resolution and color saturation with a 4 mp camera?

I was looking in to the Canon G3 or the Olympus 4040z. Do you have any experience with these two cameras? Does anyone have any experience with these cameras?

Thanks

To attain true control over you image, you need a digital SLR. You can get great color saturation with the those point and shoot digital cameras but they are very weak when it comes to having full control over your image and exposure. If you don't have full control, the image suffers no matter what the megapixel rating is. The lenses in those cameras are also very cheap. Buy yourself a used Canon D30 or D60 with a nice 24-85mm lens and see how much more control you will have.

Awesome shots. I too am an amateur photographer...recently acquired a D60 and a pair of amazing L series lenses...but your shots are more impressive than anything I've shot yet (I think I need to get outside of the city).

I am looking forward to shooting more pics of NSXs with my D60, but haven't had the time to research filters for my expensive lenses...and have been very tentative about taking the camera outside without something to protect them. At the very least, I need a high quality multicoated UV filter (everyone keeps recommending B+W, but I can't seem to find ones that fit 77mm anywhere). I love what the graduated ND filter did for the shots of your NSX.

The graduated ND filter was only used for the POTM shot. The others were shot with no filtration at all. Akira, you can get a Hoya SMC or a Heliopan filter as well if you can't find a B+W filter. Check out B&H Photo to find your filters. I rarely shoot with Neutral Density filters unless the sky is quite a bit brighter than the foreground subject, which was the case with the POTM.

NSXPO fotog gig ??

With NSXPO-03 coming up in your neck-of-the-woods in mid-October, you MAY have another excellent opportunity to showcase your talents :D

Re: NSXPO fotog gig ??

I definitely plan to be at this NSXPO...and I will bring my D60 and both of my video cameras. I can't think of a better opportunity to catch great images of NSXs!

And I finally found B+W 77mm MRC UV filters on www.2filter.com.
