the install like doc said is totally dependent on the bolts.
Here are a few things you can do to make the process easier.
Whenever working on exhaust conponents :
1) let the car warm up so the exhaust parts are HOT
2) use lots and lots of lub. The stuff we use at the shop esp. for exhaust parts are PB Penetrating Catalyst. It works much better than WD40. You can buy it at walmart for about $4 and it lasts forever. Lub it up before you go to work
3) always use a 6 point socket as to not strip the bolts. If they strip your out of luck unless you have ----> 6)
4) Use lots of leverage. The key is to brake the bolt on your first try. Every time you fail, you strip the bolt a little bit. Either have a braker bar to put leverage on the nut or you can use a hammer and hit your ratchet.
MAKE SURE everything is LINED UP and that the socket has a full bite on the nut.
5) Make sure to use an O2 sensor socket. Wrenches will work but they also strip.
6)If you do stip a bolt, this is your last hope before cutting the bolt off.
you can get these at sears, i think they run you about 50$ but well worth the money. If i remember correctly, these strip bolt removers dont quit clear the heat shields
If you need to take off the heat shield to get a firm bite on the nut, make sure you take it off or risk stripping the nut.
7) When you reassemble, make sure you use anti seize on every nut, bolt, O2 sensor for easy disassembly next time.
Have fun and hopefully it all goes well.
Acturally it smells like burning baby rabbits and sounds like the screams of a 1000 dieing ducklings.
